Latest SERE class quarantined for china virus outbreak.

Not a class I'd choose to do over if they have to quarantine and re-class at a later time to finish training.
If they're still moving forward with the Covid-19 = disqualified for military service they may not have to worry about re-taking the class.

I had not thought about it from that perspective. yes, that would be the most sucky of suck: to get almost to graduation and fully qual'd as SF or SEAL/SWCC or MARSOC/Recon, then be medically DQ'd. That's a horrible way to go out.

Ugh. I hadn’t heard that. That’s an idiotic move.

That was about disqualifying applicants from military service for a positive history of COVID. These guy are already in the Army, they’ll be fine.

There seems to be a lot of confusion on the subject. Apparently back in May the announcement was made that anyone who contracted it would be disqualified, but it looks like they have walked that back saying those that have been hospitalized from it are disqualified, with the caveat that this is subject to change. One point of potential interest on this question is that until the last few weeks the majority of the new cases were in older people in nursing homes and care facilities, but now it is breaking out among the younger crowd. I believe there may have been a thread here on that subject.

edit to add:

What about the ones that end up as a more critical case and require hospitalization?

I wonder if it's not just test positive, but have an adverse experience then you're out. Have they instituted testing of all to see who has it and who doesn't? I'd bet many get it, but aren't significantly affected by it.

Unless they're not (fine). We know Uncle Sugar will boot them on a medical in a heartbeat if it suits His needs. I imagine that once they have recovered, if they start having sequelae or not being able to move from here to there without some sort of respiratory issue, they'll revisit the issue.

Or.... like the water at Lejeune, they'll say "lookit, you can't prove it's service-connected, you're on your own...."

Because of the outbreak at SERE the next Sage class is delayed by 2 weeks, so far.
