Leave the World Behind

I did. It’s ok, but the ending was weak. The Obamas are also executive producers, meaning they put in money toward the financing of the project.

There’s a lot of back and forth about who is behind the attacks, but there’s a few between the lines moments when it sounds like our own people were in on it and took steps to hide until it was all over to claim power.

This movie is so full of symbols it is amazing. Watched it last night. There were several things in the movie that were interesting choices.

I don't know if this is the "evil cabal" telegraphing the next punch or what. They kinda did this with the pandemic and the TV series Utopia. Now we got the WEF predicting the next crisis will be one involving cyberattacks. Maybe "predicting" is the wrong word and "planning" is the right word.

Or it could simply be the left wants their people to be afraid and so some prepping too. I'm not sure.

Anyway, lots of references to things.

1. Opening scene we see "666" on the alarm clocks in the bedroom.
2. The name of the ship is the White Lion. That happens to be...

3. Then the radio station happens to be 1619.
4. The items in the pantry are Aunt Jemima, Cream of Wheat, and Uncle Ben's. I found that ironic and also probably very intentional.

There are lots of other things, but I can't really explore it all right now. I'll get around to it over the next few days. There are things I caught in there that I don't think a lot of others have seen just yet. No doubt someone will soon put together a video listing them all. Maybe the Obamas are just trolling us. They are ego driven enough to do such a thing. We do know the Obamas were VERY involved in the movie from the screenwriting to the editing.

Who knows?

Ehh.
I did cyber defense on critical infrastructure. Now I do cyber offense on financial stuff.
If the WEF believes that, they're morons.

One of the big takeaways of the Ukraine war, and I say this even though it hurts my job, is people over inflate the power and danger of cyber attacks.
Small, targeted attacks? Sure. Widespread damage? Nah. Kinetic > Cyber.

I watched it with my wife and she asked me if the Obamas were trying to send a message.

I know they have a multi-movie production deal with Netflix, but not sure what other flicks are in the works.

Kinetic > Cyber.
Good comment...see Southern Pines power station takedown last year (bullet vs keystroke)....and they still do not have clue who did it (at least not publicly acknowledged).

Well, gotta figure that kinetic attacks could be part of it. After all, who has been coming across the border over the past few years?

My wife told me afterwards and I said you couldn’t have said something sooner???
She probably knew you would have said hell no 😂

Look at it from the "War of the Worlds" perspective and the effect that radio show had. Cyber attacks, even something like a DDOS tends to frighten people. The fear factor would greatly amplify the effect of a subsequent kinetic attack.

I think most of us in this forum are the Kevin Bacon character types. Most of the general population are clueless and live in a bubble.

Yeah....I thought it was just a stock standard B-movie until they threw out the line

"Don't trust white people"

in a way that could not be taken any other way than purely racist.

I was not impressed, definitely thought it fell short, stumbling through a confusing plot with mostly underdeveloped characters. The attempt at depth with a recurring deer motif felt forced and added more confusion than substance. It lacks cohesion, leaving viewers disconnected and dissatisfied with an overall forgettable experience. With an ending only rivaled by “the Sopranos”. After I learned about those two being producers the whole movie felt gross in hindsight, it really made some of the dialogue seem like they could be warnings or taunts.

After sleeping on the movie, it felt a lot more political than I initially thought. I could almost reimagine the owner’s daughter’s lines in M.Obamas voice. Then the scene with the vinyl records and the home owner having to “set boundaries” seemed out of place and forced. Same for the Owner’s daughter’s comment about Ethan Hawk’s character, at no point did he give off the “vibe” she told her father about. And then the prepper, they made him seem selfish and showed him in a negative light meanwhile they showed up expecting him to give up some of his preps because they knew he’d have them. Maybe I’m looking a little too much into it…

Amazing how all of the Tesla cars crashed into each other. If the sat net was down those cars would never leave the dealership.
The huge wave of water hitting the house was unbelievable. That little jet crashing might have caused a little splash as it hit the water. No way it made a wave high enough to breach the dune, travel 150 yards, and still be higher than the windows on the house.
The husband was a clueless, worthless, waste of oxygen on the planet. He fell apart when the cell service went down.
The rich people that stocked up for the end of times had a pretty poor security system. The little girl easily got into the house and the bunker.
The whole animal kingdom acting strange made no sense to me.
The ending was a big anticlimax.

Had high hopes and watched it last night - it started pretty good but went downhill from there.

As the movie went on it kept building and building with more and more interesting clues only to never pursue any of them and their meaning (the animals, the teslas, the mysterious sound, the boy's mysterious illness, drones dropping flyers, the cabin in the woods, the hispanic lady, etc.). I get that they were all symptoms of the bigger picture, but the movie never went anywhere with them. Couldn't figure out why the house still had power when everything else didn't.

This reminded me a lot of the 2018 netflix movie "How It Ends" because in neither one do you ever actually learn what the catastrophe was and what would eventually happen to the characters.

The ending was stupid, especially the part about the underground bunker door being unlocked and not hidden.

It sucked.

2 1/2 hours of virtually nothing happening, and an “ending” that reveals/changes nothing.

Every character other than the one portrayed by Kevin Bacon is annoying and unlikeable.

I haven’t felt a waste of time this big since the ending of “Lost”.

Sounds like an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

Wonder what the left is thinking? Look at their actions.

I ditched netflix when they put the French kiddie porn movie on.

Not interested in anything the Obamas are involved in producing; got enough indoctrination while he was president.

Same here. Ditched it and never went back.

First movie the wife and I have watched in a long time…man, what a mistake!

There aren’t that many deer that close to any city and also, let’s stand around and scream at them! 🤔🤣 Annoying daughters, unneeded racism injections, anti-prepper messaging, real world physics off all over the place, anti-Tesla shots (I’m sure directed at Elon)…all white, btw???, power grid issues, typical stereotyped “dumb-butt useless white husband”, some 15 second romantic storyline, kid loosing teeth like a baller 90 year old, old Pretty Woman…terrible acting btw, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…

My brain wanted to explode, but it had long since wilted and died! My wife wanted to see the end…fade to black…she was pissed! 😡🤣🤣🤣. When we saw the Obama names at the start, we almost turned it off…remember kids, trust that gut feeling! It could save you 2+ hours of torment!!!

There’s lots of stuff on Netflix that isn’t like that and that Ob0z0 isn't involved in. Some of the foreign stuff is very good and a refreshing break from hollyweird.

We recently watched a miniseries titled All the Light You Cannot See, which is about WW2 in France in the last days before it gets liberated. It was very good.

When I see something recommended that's on Netflix I will look for an alternative source.

Sometimes standing on principle costs.

Save your time.

Good cast of solid actors, horrible boring story & bad ending.

equals an Oscar win for best producer for Mike & Barack.

very strange that almost everybody in the movie sucked - the owner/dad was aware but still unprepared. his daughter was awful. EH was a useless academic. JR was just awful. The kids were a mess.
Literally the only ones that didn't suck were the preppers. the down to earth working man saved the day by being a very capitalist prepper.

knowing that the obamas were involved just feels like they're rubbing our noses in their own power.
