Let's drop the weight challenge

I continue to try to limit portions, and be more active.
As Ive said before, my goal is 7k steps a day, but sometimes it doesnt work out. Like, for example, this past Sunday, I only had about2500... BUT I also played 2 hockeys games.
But I want to hit that number so I made another, new goal for me to work towards - 50k steps per week.
Thats about the same as my 7k per day, but just another thing to work towards.

Not weighed myself since the physical, no rush to do that, I know that this will take time

Down to 207 from the time restrictive eating

Intermittent fasting/time restrictive eating has been clutch for me. Good way to break up plateaus too... I hit a wall and went to black coffee instead of bulletproof for a few days(full fast except for dinner) and it got me back on track...

110% agree. My same experience.

Down to 217 even... More exciting than that, not only have I lost 3 full pant sizes, but I even had to go down a size in underwear! I guess my ass can't cash as big a check now... lol...

I got down to 159 (from 194) a bit over a year ago. Then lost it on back shift during weeks of urgent troubleshooting and repairs, with one of the backshift engineers always "what are we eating tonight?"

*alas*

I had gotten to the point where I had to cut two new notches in my belt due to the weight loss.

Well, I was at about the 4 1/2 notch on my belt (meaning I was at the fifth notch and in denial, forcing my gut to painfully accept the 4th notch). I told myself "this is ridiculous, it's not that difficult!"

So I shifted gears again and have gotten myself down to the third notch. I'm on the verge of hitting the second notch again (which is where I had to cut the first new hole in my belt a little over a year ago). I don't know where I started out at, but currently I'm at 178.

I figure by end of next month, I should be comfortably in the mid 160s again.

Good for you. I'd be stoked to see 194! I look amazing at that weight. Haven't seen it since 11th grade... But I'm 6' and have a large frame. If I lose another 20lbs of fat I'll probably be back in the 15-20% range even without the muscle mass I used to have...

I'm 5' 9", so crowding 200 is definitely not "slim and trim" for me.

;)

From 256 to 212 in 5 months. I've lost 44lbs, 3 pants sizes, 2 shirt sizes, and even a size down in undies! On top of that I feel better than I have in years...

So, after an epic cheat week in Tampa starting tomorrow, onward to 200lbs even...

Been busting ass and hitting my fasts this week... AND I HAVE OFFICIALLY HIT MY GOAL OF 215LBS!!!

View attachment 58529

You're an over achiever! You overshot by two and a half pounds!

Now, here's you're next goal...an even 200! You're only 12 pounds away from it!

GO FOR IT!

I finally decided to start adding in some exercise. I joined Planet Fitness and have been going to the gym every other day for the past couple of weeks, working on cardio and lifting weights. I ran for 25 min on the treadmill yesterday, so I'm pretty sore today. For the weights, I am worried that I'm going to reinjure my shoulder (old rotator cuff injury that flares up every time I push too hard), but I've been careful and so far, it hasn't been hurting yet.

I started lifting and walking/jogging six weeks ago- I'm still at it three or four times a week. I am getting stronger and my weights are going up. Don't have the shoulder pain I was worried about and my back doesn't hurt as much as it used to. So, I am pretty happy with my progress physically.

The downside is that my weight has picked up a bit- I was 230 a few months ago and I was back up to 235 this week. I think it is muscle gain, but I would like to see the number start going back down again.

Anyone do HIIT work outs?

Sort of, in a “I’ll do this but I am not going to like it” sort of way (kind of like how my girlfriends probably felt in high school/college)

My HIIT workouts are more geared towards cardio/increasing workload capacity

3 days a week, I will run 40 yds (too old to truly sprint), rest 30 sec, then do 10 box jumps, rest 1.5 min, repeat for a total of 4-5 sets

3 more days a week, I do the following:
50 jumping jacks
40 sit ups
30 sec plank
20 air squats
10 burpees
Rest 2 min, repeat for 3-4 sets

These are done in the evenings so I can still lift in the mornings

Either of these routines can be done in the morning and at home. My gym is crowded after work, so I lift while I am still fasted instead (I eat between noon and 8pm every day)

Don't remember if I mentioned this in an earlier post:

Hunger control tip:

Did you know your body doesn't feel hungry while you're physically active?

You actually start feeling hungry when you stop to rest for a bit.

This is a VERY important bit of information, because it shows how important it is to be physically active. As in MOVING. Walking, standing at the work bench working on a project, riding a bike, gardening, whatever.

Lol. Bubbleheads. Haven't been to SERE, huh?*

*Yeah, I think with most normal people with normal metabolisms and normal movement this is largely true, unless the activity has a high calorie expenditure.

Been stuck at 190. Need a change. I am starting 5am workouts tomorrow. Wish me luck. Time to lose the last of the flab.

Anyone want to be an early morning accountability partner?! Set my new Fitbit to wake me around 5 then I will ruck a 45# pack for 30-45 minutes.

You are in Wake Forest and want accountability partners? Look into F3. We're big into rucking workouts, too.

Sitting in a restaurant in GA drinking beer and eating pizza... It's been an epic cheat week... Hope i didn't gain too much lol ..

Here's how I look at it...

Dieting and exercise is how you lose weight. That means eating something less than about 2,000 calories a day (depending on the individual, of course). "Cheating" isn't cheating if you stay reasonably close to 2,000 a day and still maintain your exercise routine. At worse, you just maintain your weight. And that's a good thing.

Third day straight of 5am alarm. How many times does it take to make something habit?

Even ran a bit to keep my time going down.

It takes a while. I slowly worked my way to getting up at 3:30 every weekday. Took about two years. Now 5:00 feels like sleeping in.

Good job!

Popular myth says 21 days, but research says "average of 66 days." (to be fair, I have not seen the spread or know what the standard deviation is).

That is what I found too. Personally, it took me around a month to get used to getting up at 5:15 M-F. I had a workout partner that would be affected by me being late/skipping, so that helped drive me

Ive not been doing great, but still trying.
83 minutes of workout detected by my phone tonight, walking and jogging.
I went out for about a mile or so, was at about 3800 steps for the day and needed to clip my 7k goal. Ended up with over 14k for the day.
I was like freaking Forest Gump - got to this place and thought I'd go a little further...got to the next stop and thought, "I'll keep on going a little further."
Next thing I know Im very far from home and wishing i had a glass of cold water.
It was a hot day, gents. And even when I went out it was still mid-upper 80s.
Sweated my butt off.

But this week I weighed myself in the weightroom at work - 217!
I didnt know if I'd lost anything, and I have, I was VERY happy!
I'll keep on working. I want to look freaking good by the time the next year begins in a couple months

Sorry for another post, but I just checked HMP, May 5, 2018 is when I posted I was 226
Now, about 5 weeks later Im down 9 lbs.
Now with being out of work I'll have time to ride my bike and walk/jog more.
Then, when August begins I'll be back on the soccer field and running even more ON TOP of the other things.
I WILL be slimmer by the time the kids come back mid-August.

In my epic beer-filled, carb-crazy, pizza/taco/sammich binge I gained like 15lbs in a little over a week! Most of it is water weight I'm sure. In a few days I've dropped 8 of it already... Back to 219... I'll dump the rest in the next week or so I imagine. Totally worth it every few months...

Still around 235, but things are going OK. I've been going to the gym every other day and seeing a lot of improvement in muscle growth and tone. I had to buy a new suit this week, since my 50's were too baggy to even tailor down to fit me. I got a 46 R. Also, my dad commented last weekend that it's the first time in a long time that he saw that my chest was bigger than my belly- so that's a good thing. My 15-year-old son has been going to the gym with me and I've enjoyed spending the time with him.

My wife has had a lot of digestive problems over the past year, but the upside of it is that she's lost about 50 lbs. So between the two of us, we've lost over 90 lbs. We're scheduled to take family portraits this July, and for the first time in a long time, I'm looking forward to it.

I really started back May 5th ish, right at 300 lbs. I just got a new scale and I am weighing in at 284, so down 16 lbs.

Mom even said something when I was at the hospital Monday night (I have a new niece!!) which made me feel more optimistic, usually the first 20 or so have been the hardest for me in the past.
