Let's drop the weight challenge

That would be awesome if you have time.

This is not data from a medical study but I get blood work done through work once a year for our health benefits. I started IF about a week after having blood work done (purely coincidence) and my testosterone levels were the same a year later. But I was also 48 at the time, so your results may vary.

Just over 36hrs into a 7 day fast. Down another few #'s. Going to see endocrinologist today. My sugars have been pretty good. Downloaded that Life app that @MadMardigan suggested for fasting, it's pretty cool.

Be sure to read up on extended fasts like that, you need some pink Himalayan salt and other minerals during it.

I wouldn’t go farther then 3 days personally.

What app is that, and what kind of scale are you using?

I have an analog (i.e., "old fashioned") scale and a digital scale, and they are nowhere nearly the same....

Edited to add, that's really great work!!

Fit Index is the app, and it has a scale, I think the scale was 22 dollars, and the app goes with it for free.

I’ve been maintaining my weight on my own for the past couple of weeks. I usually have about a 5 pound swing throughout the week. These pictures are from when I ended the “active” portion of that program I did. So I’m keeping it to -60 to -65 from when I started in April. I’m happy with that.

Immersion is great; but it needs to be done right. There is a variance based on technique.

As long as you get it done the same way every time, body fat measurements are for tracking trends. The actual numbers aren't the important part.

Just finished up week 3 of the 100 Push-Up and the 200 Sit-Up Challenge. Still have a day of the Couch-to-5k plan before I am done with week 3 of it too. Should be wrapped up the Friday before my Spartan Sprint on Nov 24

Just about to hit my goal of 500 miles for the year in running (will hit it this week).

Weights in the gym are going up, though have gotten slower here lately. I am cutting calories still, running mostly OMAD IF during the week, and a 16:8 on weekends. The scale I have sucks, but seems to be dropping decent on weeks, and gaining it all back on weekends (I really don't eat that much!)

Down to 240, started this year at roughly 265, and started the journey last July at 300. Have 15-20 more to go, then will do a serious look and see where I want to go with it from there.

I am not on a diet. Diets do not work for me and I always ended up gaining weight in the long run. So four years ago I decided I had to make some changes. I decided to break bad eating habits and not give anything up, but change when and where I eat. It is working. I have lost about two pounds/month for four years now and I am the lightest I have been in 20 years. I was 410 pounds when I started and when I weigh Dec. 31 I should be around 296/297. I still have a long way to go. But it is working for me.

I was a card-carrying member of the three mile a year club right up until December 2005.

Since then, I've been a card carrying member of the go eff yourself, I ain't running club.

Last weight was 177. A good weight, but I'd like to get back into the mid-160s.

I hate running, I hated running, I will forever hate running. At least I have a for-real doc's excuse to not run. There are so many better aerobic activities, but anyone can run, anywhere, anytime: you don't need a machine or pool, all you need are shoes.

Ride a bicycle. Better on your joints, gets you farther, and is actually a decent transportation method for so many things...trips to the store, to and from work, etc. if the roads and conditions support.

I had never seen this section before....

My younger brother had quadruple bypass surgery last May and because of that "now" family history...I decided to drop some weight as a preemptive strike.

I have dropped 20 lbs since June and am now down to 165 lbs, which is what I weighed in high school in 1972.

Keep up the good work everyone....you're never too old to get in shape.

Just signed up for my first half marathon in March, and ramping up training.

I'm moving Weight around, not dropping it but definitely getting slimmer (I have my very own set of fat pants, but they weren't always fat pants!)

Since I joined F3 I've been pushed more to do a lot more, and I am seeing and feeling the results!

I’m 32 and up until 30 I could always eat whatever I wanted and struggled to gain weight if I tried. Well work & life were stressing me out so my Dr put me on some meds. I hate Rx but it did help.

Unfortunately it also caused me to gain over 30lb in a year. My cholesterol was also looking terrible. I tried a bunch of small changes, cutting back on sugars, cutting back on carbs, running 2-3 days/wk etc etc, nothing seemed to work.

Finally, I found a natural alternative to the Rx and it works. Sadly my body still wanted to be 195+/-. By this time I’ve made a bunch of changes to my diet, tried a few different exercise routines, and still couldn’t lose more than 3lb which is negligible.

I decided to begin a modified intermittent fasting about 5wks ago. I eat a small breakfast as 10a, refrain from large lunches, and don’t eat anything after 630pm. Since then I’ve been losing about 2-3lb/wk. I was up to 198, now down to 186. Trying to lose another 16 and maintain it!
Following up on my 8/18/19 post where I made it from 198 down to 186 in 5wk. Now 5mo later and I’m at 179, so not only am I keeping the weight off but I’m continuing to lose a little over 1lb per month including the holidays when we often pack on a couple extra lbs.

The nicest part of this recently was when I had to tighten down my cobra belt all the way and it was still a little too big. This is the belt I bought because my waist had grown too much.

While my weight loss isn’t super impressive, I have a carb/protein heavy diet, sit at a desk all day, don’t exercise regularly, and haven’t had to completely abandon my sweet tooth. Many small modifications and some discipline is all it took me. I’m still going for 170.

Half is 2 weeks away. Me and another F3 guy ran the entire course yesterday, and its something that a year ago I never would have done.

This year its 1K miles running/rucking, so this has been good to get the miles up for that as well. I will say, after running that yesterday, after this race the next one, if there is a next one, will be no more than a 10K. 13 miles sucked.

Goal this year, for weight loss, is to get down to 210-220. Would like to see what I look like at about 200, but that is something that may be next year. Weight lifting and all is slowing down actual weight loss, but for fat loss picking up heavy stuff its kicking ass!
