Over the past 6 months, I have bought 2 Rossi Model 92w. One was a 16" Stainless Steet 44 mag and the other is a 20-inch blue steel 357 magnum. The 44 is so much smoother than the newer 357. Some of the springs have been replaced on the 44. I am wanting to work on the 357 by changing out the springs and polishing the action bars and hammer.
I have seen some spring kits for the guns but they do not look complete. The loading gate spring is impossible. What springs would you suggest replacing? Do you think I should try it the first time by myself? When I looked at my Winchester pre-65 part list, there is no way I would think about putting a screwdriver on that gun.

Both guns at 100 yards were nailing bowling pins with buckhorn sights With the 44, it liked heavier bullets and the 357 loved 180 gn swc.

You only need to replace the ejector spring.
This is what I do what I slick up Rossis:
Trim the loading gate leaf spring from the side and polish off any burrs around the gate port itself.
Thin the extractor claw from the underside
Polish all burred edges (there are many, but this is easy)
Replace ejector spring
Replace mag follower with metal one
Shorten mag spring
Trim hammer spring
Replace stupid safety.

If you're ever in my neck of the woods, stop by, I got all the tools you need here

Thanks for the replies. I will order those parts from Stevegunz today. Going back to YouTube a couple times before starting the work.

I one of the kits, maybe one from Brownells had 3 springs.

I'm sure one of the springs in that kit is the hammer spring. You can modify the one in there by clipping off a couple coils, same with mag spring.

I have the same project, just haven’t gotten around to asking. Going to have it shortened and threaded, but want to get it working well before I pay someone for the barrel work.

Great thread!
