As we all know the lever rifle is a universal rifle that is loads of fun to shoot. If given the opportunity to set up a match of your choosing what would be the format for a centerfire. Please include the handicapped as well as the not so gifted in sight and of course the geezers. Lets say the course has benchrests, berms at one hundred as well as 200 and steel plate racks. Your thoughts greatly appreciated.

I myself would be curious to see how the pistol caliber lever actions do past 100yd. I am aware there are lever actions in 30/30 all the way to 30-06 (Winchester 1895 I am looking at you), but I think most cowboy shooters use pistol caliber ones. So, which calibers do you have in mind?

For the benchrest stage, have you considered making it look like a trench? Reason is the Russians used the 1895 in WWI. In any case, that would make it nice for wheelchairs I think and still would be historically accurate, specially longer range. AQT targets perhaps?

Steel plates IMHO are nice for those who are good shooters but not good eyes: once you hear it ping, you know you are aiming right so keep it steady.

The NRA has a classification schedule for Cowboy Lever Silhouette that could of value. I think having an open match for all comers to begin with and then see what is needed to level the field for future matches.
