Light bulb spying

Crap, I'll never trust a light bulb again.

From the article: (b/i/u at end is mine)

The Article said:
As unlikely as being targeted by this technique is, it's also easy to forestall. Just cover any hanging bulbs, or better yet, close the curtains. And if you're paranoid enough to be concerned about this sort of spy game, hopefully you've already used anti-vibration devices on those windows to prevent eavesdropping with a laser microphone. And swept your house for bugs. And removed the microphones from your phone and computer. After all, in an era when even the light bulbs have ears, a paranoiac's work is never done.

Nonsense and other such comments!
This one is so easy to stop.

smear a fine layer of poo on all your lightbulbs. The mushy porous surface of the poo muffles and distorts the laser.

In the 90s it was reading the vibrations off the window glass, but maybe now that most exterior windows are multi-pane that trick doesn't work so well.

and you may suspect there is "something else out there"
which is even more insidious but remains secret.
tinfoil is suspect as well.

who's gonna do all that work when your phone listens to everything you say and is always 3ft away or less. Don't believe me? Start talking about buying something weird, and wait for the ads to show up as a sidebar.

Sooo, this needs to have powerful telescopes that can pick up 1/1000's of a millimeter movements against light bulbs. It needs to be hooked up to powerful technology to translate this. And it needs to be pointed at a bare lightbulb(who has bare lightbulbs hanging?). And I would guess, just assuming, that talking in a different direction would cause the sound waves to not hit it as strongly, in otherwords, you'd probably need to either be loud, or talking in the general direction of the bare lightbulb in plain view of a window. The speakers had to be at max volume for this to work, and it was swaying the bulb by tenths of a millimeter, which was probably visible to the naked eye. Would probably not work with a bulb on a stand, or led bulbs that are plastic, or with regular human decibel levels.

This reminds me of Spectre/Meltdown attacks against cpu's, using timing/flushing attacks. Yeah, it's scary as all get-out. If it could ever practically work, and I don't think it ever will. This is probably the same. If.
