A historical reproduction of the original, innovative GLOCK pistol adopted by the Austrian Army in 1982.

In 1981, Gaston Glock assembled a team of engineers and designed his first firearm. The result was submitted to the Austrian Army pistol trials and won the contract in 1982. The Army then designated the first GLOCK as the Pistole 80. These guns were later known commercially as “G17s” and were only available in the US market for two years until the “Gen2” model was introduced in 1988. P80 marked GLOCKs were never imported into the United States.

I get the historical significance , but I'd buy several of them if they made the same gun in compact form factor (because I'll never own a real Gen 1 G19).

Aside from nostalgia, what makes a gen 2 better than a Gen 5?

Effectively the same. I'd prefer a Gen 5 over a Gen 2 since the polymer will be about 25 years newer (and yeah, eventually, it does go bad if you don't take care of it).

IMO the Gen 5 is the best iteration of the Glocks so far. Accessory rail, no finger groves and a better mag release. Trigger and barrel are pretty nice too.

I agree with these points, and I would add that the texture has improved greatly over the generations as well. I love the feel of a Gen2 just to hold, but I shoot newer ones better because I can lock my grip in better.

I'm going to get one, if nothing else it will go well with my AUG STG77 clone that Steyr was selling a couple of years back. Plus, I'm well past need when it comes to guns anyway, might as well buy what is entertaining.

Bets on how long before one is posted here in the BST? Heck I might be the one posting one lol

They are only making and selling 10,000 of them allegedly in the initial run with an option of another 20,000 from Glock but supposedly no more than 30,000 of them to be made. They are making them in Austria.

Wow, enough time has passed since the Glock showed up that there is a nostalgia market for them now? I am getting old! Still haven't owned a plastic pistol.

I'll own one or two. But my take is a bit different than most. I collect early glocks, especially gen 1's and early gen 2's. It's a bad addiction for sure.

same here the early ones are the best to me

I've shot them and was issued a .40 compact Glock when I worked for an armored cash in transit company. As someone else said on this forum a Glock is like a cordless drill. It works well but has no soul. At some point in the near future every PD in this country will probably be armed by Glock!

They work....enough said. I have had some guns previously that did NOT work consistently (1911 that I sold and never looked back)

I have had an extractor break on a Glock 17 from 1989. It was worn slam out and I replaced the springs and such on a 27 I sold because they were worn out too. Overall the Glock is reliable. It’s ugly thou

One of my favorite dealers got 5 and sold them all within an hour of posting it. I am not interested but I can see why some people would be. Personally if I was buying another Glock I would get a Gen 5 19.

My sweet spot is gen 3, but really, I've no issues with any of them. They are not pretty, but they are utterly and boringly reliable as a brand, kind of the gun world's Honda Accord.

I would have said Ford Ranger of the mid to late 90’s ....all purpose and utility lol But yeah Honda Accord fits the bill

armslist has one in hickory for 750... the gen 5 34 mos is 730 so im thinking you really gotta want this thing to go that high

The TFB video had the Lipseys rep saying street price should be $570 IIRC and that production likely won't be limited (as they have to justify making the molds). Probably better off waiting until after the election unless you've got money burning a hole in your pocket.

Patience....they have to satisfy this market first then the 19 will come. You know, Just like before.;)

With the limited number of first generation Glock 19's floating around, this is likely the closest we will ever get. Granted the P80's aren't exactly gen 1's but... if they do a gen 1 g19, I would buy more than one or two. I've been chasing a gen 1 19 for years. I've gotten very close a few times but no cigar. I even made an outlandish cash offer (for the time) on one 5 or 6 years ago but the guy told me "he would be buried with it". I told him that was fine just to tell me which cemetery he has a plot in.

Bwahaha, love that last sentence. I agree with you, if they released a gen 1 G19 clone then I'd probably buy more than 2, less than 5. Even if I had a real gen 1 G19 available to buy, I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on one.

Everyone has a grail gun I suppose. The gen 1 glock 19 is mine. I guess its more about the hunt than anything else because I would never shoot it.

Can anyone explain why they left the one pin design? Just curious.
