Loaner "Open Class" guns

I came as a bystander to check out the last match. It looked like an awesome thing to do, still trying to round up mags to participate myself, been a few hurdles in the way. What type of ammo do the guys typically use in the matches?

I have been running Aguila Standard Velocity to can get it online for around 5 cents a round.
You really have to get small amounts of ammo to test in your guns to see what works.
CCI Mini-mags seem to be a really great load for all guns, but do some testing.

So for the two gun matches the higher velocity rounds are fine to use? I never had any issues with my 10/22 with any ammo that is at least standard velocity. It's also a basically stock gun though with just a trigger polish.

Yeah high velocity .22lr are fine. I shot a completely stock Ruger 10/22 and a mark 2 when I first started and absolutely had a blast doing it. Run what you have, you will have fun.

That's gonna be the plan until I at least try it. I have to purchase a few more mags and then I will be signing up. If it works out and is as fun as it looks I can mod and change as I realize shortcomings with current equipment.

Yeah I was about to say that someone in your squad will let you borrow magazines. We do it all the time.

Ditto to what these guys are saying. I've had people use my guns/mags the last 3-4 matches. And it's not uncommon for others to do the same.

Just let the squad know so they can stagger your shooting order so you have time to reload.

I hope it runs....lol.

Thanks mate. I'll be shooting limited this time, I can't deal with red dots on pistols, slower than irons for me.

I'm expecting snacks and hugs.....

The "hope it runs" was an inside joke with Brit. He says he's a curse on firearms. Meaning they don't run when he's around. We went shooting Sunday morning after the last DPRC match and my pistol misfed like crazy when it ran fine the day before. Then when I shot it next when he wasn't there it ran like a top again. We may be in for an interesting match. He's gonna be on our squad.....lol.

Well, as you know, our squad is usually "interesting". But we will tone it down with the young and impressionable folks there.

I ordered a fiber optic sight for my backup Limited race gun. It has all the bells and whistles. I'll be sure to bring it as well as my backup Limited rifle.

I'll cover the snacks and Paul will cover the hugs.

I'm thinking about getting into the two gun rim fire myself. I may need to start putting things together.

What kind of setup and how many mags are needed?
I'm not at all familiar with the equipment requirements for this one..

Rifle and handgun, five 10rd mags for each. Open guns have optics, limited have irons. Basically.

20170901_183849.jpg Open "Loaner" 10-22 if finished.
•Ruger receiver
•Volquartsen Ultralite Carbon fiber barrel with Allchin Gun Parts Compensator
•JWH Custom Bolt and charging handle
•Ruger poly trigger housing with KIDD Drop-in trigger kit with Tactical Solutions magazine release
•Hogue Thumb Hole "Lava Red" stick
•Vortex Optics Venom 3moa red dot

Sounds good. Need to find me a couple more Mark iv mags and I'll be getting in on this!
NClivin said it great, any .22lr pistol and rifle take can hold at least 10 rounds in a mag.
You can have as many rounds in your mag as you want but you can not shoot over 11 rounds per string. You need at least 5 magazines but if your going to do it right get 6, just in case you have an issue and get a re-shoot.
Most common 22lr pistols are: Ruger mk series pistols, S&W Victory, browning buckmarks
And rifles: Ruger 10-22 & variants, S&W 15-22, and converted ARs.
Best thing to do is come to a match and shoot other people's guns and see what you like... we all like to show off what we shoot.

Anyone can try out my blasters [emoji4]

That sounds like fun, all I need are more mags and an optic for my 10/22.
I googled DPRC to see what it is. I couldn't find the address on their webpage.
