Any suggestions on where I can get fingerprints taken locally around town? I know many of you roll your own, but I don’t have that option... will a gun shop do it? Local PD?

Why don’t you have that option?

Sheriff’s office will. Some gun shops will. I think some shipping and/or passport places might. If you’re using SS for the other stuff they’ll mail you a set for $15.

For anybody confused...Jeff and I hashed this out over text.

In case anybody else was wondering, you can roll your own, completely by yourself. No witnesses, nobody else needed to sign the card, etc.

...and here’s the link to the sticky that explains how to fill out the cards (which the ATF will send you for free):

Did my own. ATF sent the cards in about 5 days and messed up a couple cards by having too much ink on my fingers. Was not using the inkless fingerprint pad, just a regular stamp pad.

Silencer shop has a do it yourself kit for $6
Except it doesn’t include an ink pad. It’s just two cards, the instructions, and a return envelope.

You can get unlimited cards from the ATF for free...don’t even have to pay shipping.

$8 or so gets you an inkless fingerprint pad from Amazon, and you’re done until the pad stops working.

Pretty sure this info is in the link I posted above, but I’ll put it here as well. To get the cards from the ATF:

1. Visit https://www.atf.gov/distribution-center-order-form
2. Enter your info
3. Check the box for Fingerprint Cards
4. Enter quantity (I usually order 24 at a time)
5. Choose FD-258LE from the menu
6. Click Preview (you don’t have to click Add Item for the first row)
7. Hit Submit after confirming you entered everything correctly

I get 50 at a shot . Theyre FREE and I screw some up but to be honest Ive sent some pretty bad prints in. They really dont care.

The pads are $7 on amazon.
