I have a stripped lower that I am planning on doing a pistol lower kit. But then I started thinking about a 12" 6.5G kit. Let's be honest, I could say I am going to hit with it or some other reason to justify another caliber, but I don't have a legitimate excuse. Since I don't have a suppressor, would a 12" Grendel be obnoxiously loud like a pistol length 5.56? I thought about doing a 300 AAC BO, but 6.5 Grendel can be had for pretty cheap, I think, no chance of feeding a 300 round in a 5.56, and if I ever start hunting again I would have something a little bigger than my trusty 243. Searching the forum, 6.5 Grendel has positive reviews. Was thinking about try to snag this kit whenever it comes back in stock.

Of course I start thinking about this when parts and kits are in high demand.

Hey, if you want to try something new, do it! 6.5 grendel is getting cheaper, and it should be a fun blaster. And even in a small form factor it can still pack a punch.

Im still kinda regretting never getting a VEPR in 6.5 grendel when I had a chance.

I will definitely do that. Should I just keep an eye out for a pistol kit on PSA? I have a SBA3 brace on my AR 9 and like it.
These days, keep an eye out for anything you’d use. :D

This morning I got a text about a furlough rumor, I think this project might be going on hold for a bit.

JMO, 6.5 Grendel may not do so well with a shorter barrel...... It would probably be louder than you would like........18-20 inch barrel might be a good compromise.

6.5 Grendel has a pretty strong rep and following as an SBR round.

Probably just a personal preference for me then, from my experience, cartridges that burn rifle powder seem to be louder with shorter barrels, and a cartridge that burns faster powder (300 blackout is an example that uses magnum handgun powder) tends to work better with a shorter barrel and seems to not be as loud. I have a bolt action 6.5 Grendel with a 16.5 inch barrel and a 6.5 Creedmoor with a 28 inch barrel, the 6.5 Creedmoor is noticeably more pleasant to the ear than the shorter barrel Grendel when using the same suppressor. If I had to do it over, I would have got a 20 inch barrel for the Grendel, and I still might in the future.

I was thinking of getting that complete lower for now, and having the option of running a 12" or longer barrel. But mostly just look for an opinion on if that was good deal or not on that complete lower.
