Where are good places to shoot long range closer to Winston-Salem/Lexington area or NC in general? I don't have anywhere I can shoot past 250 yards or so but would like to get out to longer distances

Not yet. Just getting into long range myself. Got a 6mm creed and 338 I need to stretch out. My range in Salisbury is only 200 so that’s nothing for them.

There are plenty members here that shoot long range.

6.5 creed an 308 wanna build my own bolt gun but ain't learned the ins an outs of that yet. Like to build a 300 win mag

In time, PHA will be an option.
Maybe. Was there Saturday talking with board member and they got the land and money. Just a bunch of red tape to jump through. That’s what I was told. Let’s hope they build it.

They’ve made it hard on themselves unknowingly when they built the place. The layout is not the best for what could have been an excellent place.

I am a member but it’s really not a place to shoot rifles. Zero a scope? Sure. Enjoy a rifle? Nope.

From what he was telling me the property is down the road from there.

I'm a member at Frontline Defense, it's worth the trip. I've taken the long range rifle class that Paul offers plus several other classes.

I just wish there was someplace that wasn't a day's drive and cost a mortgage payment to join.

With some work, I maybe can get 50 yards in the side lot. That'll have to do for the time being
That's my thing being so far away an costing so much with the price of gas an ammo an he'll just a day pass your looking at hundreds of dollars for one day of shooting
I can get you out past 50 yards if you're close by Davidson county maybe 250 or so

for long range, CCGCI in the Burlington area has 1,000 yds. You have to be a member and have to get "certified" to shoot on the long range lane.
Also, RAD Range in Burlington has a 500 yd rifle range and you can do a day pass there.
Apex does a good bit of their classes currently at RAD.
There are some rifle marksmanship classes in Nov. one of which is long range 2.

You can only shoot on the 1000 yard range when they schedule a match, I joined them years ago because of the promise of a 1000 yards. It's sucks that CCGC is now run by FUDD's.

It's connected but wont be accessible, it seemed, from the 'normal' range. At least not now. There would be a separate entrance.

Was on board when the land was acquired and plans begun

Central Carolina Gun Club has 100,200,600,1000 yards very reasonable membership.

You now can shoot 600 and 1000 yards on non match days.

I could probably squeeze out the membership fee. Didn't read all the site. Annual isn't too bad. A lot of places will almost double that with "application fees" , etc.

The biggest issue I have with CCGC is the distance. It's 1.5-2 hours each way. ~180 miles r/t.

By the time I got there, I'd have enough time to do a lap around the parking lot before I had to head home

That is not what I was told 2 months ago, by Dennis Manson. He stated the only time I could use the long range was when they had a scheduled match, I could not shoot on the long range by myself. If this is untrue, who do I see to get permission to use the the long range?

What sux even worse is havin jackasses that don't know their damn drop charts or that target-bullets-bounce-off-quartz-rocks tryin to shoot longer ranges with whatever Tacti-cool Magnum-mugus©️ they thought bought them into accuracy that far out.
What sux even worse is being the downrange neighbor of said schmucks..
So talk to me about that Fuddiness after YOU'VE had the pleasure of that incoming at your AO for a while from a buncha wannabe "Operators"..

/rant

And that's all I'll say on that subject publicly..

I shot a 600 and 1000 yard match their that met the shooting requirement. I believe they are having range days to qualify to shoot 600/1000.
Also must be two people shooting the 600/1000 range one must be an RO.
Dennis said if you need an RO call and they will connect you with a club RO.

FUDD range...I do want to shoot a match. I don't mind proving to an RO I can shoot at long range. I also do not want a baby sitter to shoot out long range. You either trust the members or not, those you can't just need to be let go of.
