I am located in CLT area and have been searching for some good dirt trails to ride (mostly beginner stuff) as I'm bringing some newbies with me and I'm not that experienced myself.

After searching Dr. Google and the interwebs, I have discovered Shelby MX Express, Carolina Adventure World, Brushy Mountain and Uwharrie. I had an old Jeep TJ out at Uwharrie which was a blast - not sure how good it is on 2 wheels out there. Shelby MX Express (I believe formerly called JR's place) looks promising to start.

Looking for y'alls recommendations on some fun, easy trails to get dirty and teach some newbies how to ride.

Appreciate your feedback. Keep the shiny side up.

Here's a photo of my DR-Z400S, as threads are always better with photos:

Ive been to Uwharrie and Brushy. I liked Brushy a bit more. It was more like a 'track' in that it was a bunch of loops (depending on which trail you did), vs UNF which would just be one long trail and then youre trying to get back to your vehicle, if I remember correctly.

I have three maps of every dirt road and fire trail in the mountains. I need to get up there soon! I'm on a KLR650 and a tw200 in Tega CAy just south of Charlotte. Actually on a KLR650 in South Park today; my daily commute.

I ride Brushy Mountain Motorsports Park often, and I find it the best around the CLT area for hare scramble/GNCC style/single track riding. They have limited beginner trails, most of the trails I would consider moderate experience required. There is also Dirt world in Statesville that will be much closer for you. Dirt World has an outdoor national track, a "super cross" style track and a short 4 mile woods loop. If your group of riders is truly beginner level, try the woods loop first before going to Brushy. I don't ride tracks anymore, but I did take a few laps on Dirt World's outdoor national track. I've always found that the outdoor track is never groomed properly, and always very dry with lots of ruts.

Lately, I've just been riding at my farm just following around my 4 year old on his 50. He's doing pretty good for being so young. However, if you make it to Brushy one day, let me know and I will try to meet you there. I hate riding that place alone, and most of the people I used to ride with are racing and not casually riding anymore.

@ENTERKO Awesome! Great to see the kids out there on theirs. I picked up a PW50 for my daughter to learn on, we haven't had a chance to get out in the dirt yet. We live in CLT proper - concrete jungle.

I'll definitely let you know when I make it out to Brushy - as long as you'd be cool going at a leisurely pace for a newb :D

For sure. You might be faster than me.
