I’m considering a trade deal where I’d end up with an Eotech XPS2-0 and G33 magnifier on top of a 300BLK upper.

I’m a diehard LPVO kinda guy. Am I gonna hate the Eotech and the weird “flop to the side” magnifier?

I still really like my EXPS2-0 and Vortex 3x Micro magnifier. My biggest issue is the lack of holdovers.

I’d get the model with the extra dots if I were buying one today. Especially so with 300BO.

The biggest change is going to be glass clarity (4 panes of glass) and light transmission. But you will gain comfort during unconventional shooting positions. The eotech reticle is a little fuzzy if you don't target focus, but hardly a big issue.

I really feel like optics is 90% personal preference. I love dot+magnifiers but hate lpvos.

I am with @Cole_McD . It's more preference...but I always drive back to what is the intended use, the performance expectation, and the best combination of all of the components to achieve what you need.
I believe an eotech and 3x magnifier, is a great combination for a 300 blk and doesn't compromise it's full potential.
You'll have to train with it and get time behind the new optic set up, but similar to transitioning to a red dot on a pistol, there will ultimately be advantages realized.
I run an Eotech with 5x and love it! It's rare that I even pick up my LPVO set up any more.

If I ever got another exps/magnifier combo I would only do so with the Unity flip to center mount. The flip to the side is awful.

I wouldn’t get one for the 300 unless it’s the .300 BO model with the holdovers.

That being said, I liked mine but not great for longer distance. .300 is the perfect use case for it.

I have an XPS2 and love it but the technology is very dated and for the money you could get a much more capable reflex.
From what I understand the one thing it has going for it is it’s night vision performance and if that is on your radar then the XPS2 is the way to go.

The 3-x is NV capable.

The cool kids (SF and MARSOC) use them if that's important. I do love that reticle, and I liked the EOTech very much. If I was not using a LVPO, I would have zero issue with an EOTech. My distance vision got worse which is why I changed from HWS to LVPO, but if my vision has stayed decent I would not switched from HWS to LVPO.

I already have my “night” setup with a Holosun AEMS, so this would be a “whatever I need 300BO for” setup.

I think I’ll hold out for cash or something non-AR related

I have an exps3-0 and exps2-0, both with green reticle. One with a g33 and the other with a vortex magnifier. They work very well for shorter distances IMO. The reticle is fuzzy and is worse if you have astigmatism. If I had to pick one as my do all optic, id pick my vortex gen ll-e. Just make sure the eotech is real, if the reticle is crisp/clear and not fuzzy, it's a fake.

On the clear/not fuzzy, that’s kind of misleading. If you look at the reticle, the real one is fuzzy. If you look through to the target, it’s crisp and clear.

I made it more clear.

holographic optics are frequently misunderstood. Compared to a red dot, The reticle will perform gloriously under magnification. The only issue with the XPS-2 is the height will be true co-witness instead of a lower 1/3 height the QD (ie EXPS) model provides. As long as it’s ok for your 300 blk application, i anticipate @Tim will end up owning several eotech optics after owning one. The G33 is a solid magnifier. The exposed adjustment knobs are convenient but many have complained they can get moved around while rifle is slung. Obviously I am a huge eotech fan and have almost completely abandoned LPVO as the holo+ magnifier can accomplish the same out to 300 yards but provides enormous benefit at close range.

I made the trade. Haven’t played around much yet, so jury is still out.

I ended up with a quality build 300BLK upper, steel BUIS, Raptor CH, a couple hundred rounds of ammo, the G33 magnifier w/Unity Flip to Center and an EXPS3-0 (instead of the 2-0) on a Unity riser.

I’m feeling like we both got fair value. Looking forward to giving it a go.

0-100, which is probably where the .300 shines (suppressed), I would definitely prefer the Eotech and would not bother with the magnifier.

I see the Eotech didn’t work out. I’m curious, did you try passive aiming with your NODS?
The trade was made after the run, so no. I have my night setup now with an AEMS that I’ve run for a year or so. I do passive aiming with that.
