LWRC UCIW Ultra Compact Stock Kit

Is LWRC the only player currently in the ultra compact stock (i.e., stocks that use shorter buffer tube, buffer and their own spring) market?

No idea. It's a third to a quarter of the price of a PDW stock and about as short with a really nice cheekweld though...

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the pricey, but sweet looking, Troy PDW stock kit. Kinda hard to justify $400 on that (even though it comes with its own BCG) when the LWRC runs in the low $100's.

Nice!

I have one of these on my .22 AR and like it a lot. I think that slash makes a heavier buffer for suppressed shooting if you find the stock lwrc buffer isn't doing it for ya.

Damn, with the availability of a heavier buffer this just became a big want for my SBR.

The more I look at it the more I like it.

Crap... Now I'm wondering if this thing is going to function... I was running a standard buffer before... Guess I need to get out to the range and see...

Holy crap... That thing's $125! That's more than the stock cost!
For a buffer??! I'd make my own before I paid that damn much.

Curious how it runs with a standard and T2 buffer. The PDW stocks look great but $400 is a bit much.

LWRCs are piston guns, so they have adjustable gas systems, hence the buffer being less of a consideration.

Yes, you will likely need a different buffer since you have significant less travel distance down the tube. These stocks are slick though. If I proceed as planned with filing my PWS lower on Form 1, I am definitely buying their 11" upper. I may then grab this kit to add on, or just use this kit on a billet lower I already have.

If it ran fine before with a standard buffer then you should be good to go.

The Troy stock is interesting but stupid expensive!

A little less so when you factor in that it includes a BCG, while the LWRC does not. Still, most people contemplating the PDW will already have a BCG, so they're not saving on that expense.

Plus the cheek weld looks to be pretty mediocre, especially when you consider the price.

I got my LWRC kit in last week. Found it for less than $100 shipped, brand new! And they shipped it either same day or next day based on how fast it arrived. I absolutely love it. Can't wait to get it to the range.

Where did you get it that cheap? Lowest I've seen is Botach for $110.

The more I look at the troy, the less I like it. It really has NO cheekweld. This isn't as short obviously but it creates a decent cheekweld for nose-to-handle from the pics I've seen.
Another option is the Battle Arms Vert. Better cheek weld than the Troy (which isn't hard to beat), about the same price, uses standard bcg (but doesn't include one, so it's effectively more expensive than the Troy).

Very tough to justify this when the Armaspec is available for much less.

Yeah. Looks nice, but too spendy... If one wanted the PDW look over the LWRC(ideal IMO), I'd go for the Armaspec. If I ever do another SBR I may go that route just for flavor...

Three more PDW options, all in the $300-$400 range: https://loadoutroom.com/21839/pdw-stock-roundup/

@Spartan01 mentioned he has the ARC PDW stock, which has one-handed opening/closing.

Seems the only sub-$200 options are the LWRC UCIW and the Armapsec. With the popularity of PDW stocks in recent years, should see more entrants in the sub-$200 space. Of course in this price range, there won't be a proprietary BCG, so they aren't going to get as short as the pricier models.

Does anyone actually short the short ones on the shorter settings? It is almost impossible for me to use an AR pistol with the tube shouldered, and a standard stock on the short setting is nearly as bad (higher helps a little).

What am I missing about the PDW stocks? Is it just that it looks like an SBR that will fit assembled in a briefcase?

I think the appeal of the PDW stocks is:
1. sexy-as-**** looks when collapsed
2. ultracompact for discreet portability

They always seem a little short to me as well, and have funny cheek welds. I guess they would work a lot better with body armor.

That's what I like about the LWRC, extended it shoulders really nice for me in a t-shirt. I wanted the compact form factor for ease of concealment in hopefully a very discreet bag. Plus its fun as shit to tote around a miniature cannon.

Bucksniper.com and use the make an offer field. I ended up getting it for like $88 plus shipping or something.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one for less than one Benny.

Hoping to order the Maxim specific JP silent setup soon and test it with the stock. Will report back.
