I have an M&P 1.0 w/Apex trigger kit, Faxon barrel & compensator and a 12 lb recoil spring in hopes of it firing 115 gr range ammo. I believe they originally have a 15 lb spring which would handle 124 gr fine, but hit or miss on 115 gr. I then tried a 14 lb which was hit or miss on extraction/ chambering next round and now a 12 lb which seems to cycle better but now I'm getting about 2 light strikes per 50 rounds of either weight. The striker and spring are new stock replacements. Another thing I noticed is when unloaded the slide is snug, but when chambered it can easily come out of battery with 2 fingers grabbing the slide. Is my problem being too light of a recoil spring leading to light strikes? Also, no light strikes before the 12 lb spring.

Its possible the inertia of the striker is causing the slide to move back just a tad, like just a couple thousandths, since, as you say, the recoil spring is not very strong.

I wouldn't think that would normally be a problem as the barrel should be locked with the slide on the locking surface but maybe the barrel is slightly out of spec with the slide? Or maybe there's alot of wear?

Do you have the stock barrel? You should put it on with the weaker spring and see if you still get light strikes.

Assuming you had no issues with the other parts before changing them out, I would exchange one part at a time to see if you can find the issue.

Yeah, I will just have to heat up the Locktite to get the current one off. I'm gonna do like @Average Joe said and retrace my steps parts wise when I go shoot it again and hopefully I won't get back to the barrel.

It's had other issues with timing that I've been tinkering with so not 100% sure what all the fixes or fix it needs. If only time and money was indefinite.

Understand the time money sentiment. Did you make all the changes at once? If not, I’d start with the most recent change.

I'm swapping back to the 14 lb spring. I think I just need to realize that a pistol this far from stock might be a picky eater and stick with higher velocity 124 grain over cheaper range stuff.

Everyone is different, and maybe the puzzle is the point of this, but for what that gun is worth I'd just buy a new one before I spent a bunch of time chasing that issue and replacing parts.

Ammo picky guns are a danger to you if it's the only one you have.

I only use it for competiton. I try not to modify one's I carry beyond a trigger or minor things.

Conclusion: With the 14 lb spring it loves NATO stuff, but isn't quite hunting sidearm reliable with cheaper 124 gr ammo with about 1 in 15 or so failure to fires.
