M&P 15-22 loader

The boy needs to stick with the ways of manual feeding or he’d shoot 2k every time we go.
When I get the young-uns out at the range they're getting the 10 round mag at most.
If that doesn't work, then it's time for the tube fed Marlin. It still holds 14 rounds but it takes forever to load.
It's not hard to figure out kids. You just gotta remember how you were when you was that age.

That’s why the first half of every range session is using the single shot. Run the semi autos for a bit (10-22, 15-22 and maybe a tube fed or two) then it’s time to go back to the single shot. Usually the last thing is the CZ at distance for precision.

He likes the AR pistol too but I usually only allow 10 rounds for it.

by the time he’s 10 he will probably be outshooting me.

I think @Studentofthegun uses them for his rimfire competitions.

I do indeed. Have been using variations for years. So there are a couple models. One is for the Ruger 22/45 and other similar magazines. The other is the Lightning Loader.

The one I use for my Ruger and Volquartsen pistols is this one:

The key with this one is to get yourself some silicon spray and one little shot of it in the hopper will allow the round to drop into the magazine quickly. There are YouTube videos on this that show the best way to set it up. There's a set screw as well that pushes down on the follower button. That has to be set just right. Once you've got the thing "tuned" so to speak, it'll run extremely well.

This 'ol boy here has figured it out.

The Lightning Loader is also a must have because it doesn't rely on gravity. It's got the spring loaded grip and the ability to use lots of different adapters for different magazines. It's amazing for 15-22s magazines. The thing is, it is a little bit fragile. What I mean is, I it made out of plastic. What I did was have my buddy put a metal plate on the side of the grip using epoxy and small screws. If you also pull down a little bit on the follower buttons while you load, it makes it a LOT easier on the machine and that'll prolong the life of it as well.

If you want to load Ruger 10/22 magazines, your best bet is the new Lula offering:

This comes with two parts. One is the loader and the other one is an unloader. This is the BEST one I have found and I've tried many different ones for the 10/22 magazines. Tried the one from Champion that was supposed to be the best at the time, but it is junk. I would only give it away to someone I didn't like.

The unloader is pretty nice too. Get to the end of the shooting session and you'll want to unload your magazines. Also, you will want to clean your magazines at some point. In order to do that easily, Tandemkross makes a little kit that you can use. Makes life much easier. Over time your 10/22 magazines will get some crud in them, especially if you shoot ammo that is covered in wax like CCI standard or Eley Contact.

I have the Ultimate Clip Loader which I think is the same as @Studentofthegun has. It works well, but I'm not a blaster and it's bulky. So, I find myself just using one of the thumb saver types that give you a platform for your thumb.

I own all both McFadden loaders, Speed-D-Loader for tubular magazines, Lula for the 10-22 and X12, bring them to Battery Oaks every trip.

Bought one a few years ago to load Black Dog .22 magazines for where I added a matching cmmg dedicated .22 upper to my Seekins AR 300blkout build. The McFadden is slick as snot. Loads them as fast as you can use your rifle to unload them. My only gripe is how flimsy it feels when you’ve got the large mag stuck on the unit. When I am useing it I handle it very carefully. I had seriously thought about redoing one side of it in aluminum and adding something to brace the mag better as I’ve got a HF mini mill now. 1329F086-5A8C-47C6-9226-E4305F7EB734.jpeg
