Do any of you scattergunners have any experience with a M59 Winchester? I remember seeing them in catalogs back in the 1960's but have never shot one. Have there been any major problems with them that should keep me from buying one? The widow of a friend of a friend wants to get rid of one.
 
Oh well. I looked it over pretty well and then bought it. I went to shoot it today and noticed the receiver was cracked just in front of the loading gate. Too bad. I had hoped it would serve me well for quite a while.
 
Hmmm, no disappointment like the one associated with a misguided buy.
Been there, have the wallhanger to show for it. Hope you didn't drop too much on it.

I just traded for one. Haven't shot it yet, but plan to this week. It appears to be in good shape just handled a lot.
 
Just got one this week! Nice old gun but probably just going to put it in the safe. I hear the barrel will start to separate at the end and the receiver is bad to crack. Really just picked it up because I already have a model 50. Got to love those old Winchesters!
