At what point did/will you decide you have enough standard capacity magazines on hand? I was just about to hit 'buy' on some more PMags and decided, "Nah, I have enough". I have ~50 in hand now.

Cue the multitudes saying, "You can't have enough!" or "1 more than I have", etc.

I really want to know, when did/will you decide enough "enough"?

That's a tough one to answer. I've bought 30 rounders for quiet a few years, to the point I didn't keep count, just bought and put up. I looked last year and found 10 Lancer smoke mags in the wrapper still, that I got back in 2010. Those were some of my first purchases, and still haven't used them. I now have boxes of Troy Battle mags, no idea on count. I'm done though, haven't bought any this year. I say just whatever makes you warm and fuzzy feeling, lol.

Depends on the firearm. Some magazines will be abundant long past the point SHTF. I don't keep a bunch of AR mags around. I currently own 3. I figure they'll be strewn about if I need them. My wife and I both have HK guns that use common magazines. There's maybe 12 of those around the house. The bolt gun has four 10 round mags, and at nearly $100 each that's enough. A different rifle of mine also had exorbitantly priced mags and I only have 4 mags for that one as well. We've got a few guns that use Beretta 92 mags and there's a solid dozen of those around. I used to think of these like I do AR mags figuring they'll be around if SHTF. I bought a P320 simply because it took the place of the Beretta in that equation. Small carry guns only have like 3-4 mags each. They seem silly to buy tons of mags for because if I really need that kind of capacity I should just be carrying a bigger gun.

buy more guns and get at least 5+ magazines for each. then buy a new gun and repeat. you'll never know what parts you'll find laying around after everything falls apart, so you should probably have a gun that can use use any spare part you find.
I really am considering selling some of my cheaper uncommonly used guns, just because i'll probably not see them worth this much again for a good few years.

I think i have 20 gi mags in a box somewhere? Im still using the same 3 or 4 I started with so i suppose they will last. Id rather stack components deep if ima spend money on a future use.

I typically have 5 per pistol and 7 per rifle. FWIW

I have some, more than I’ll ever need...I hope. Like ammo if it’s cheap I’ll buy it, sell it when it gets crazy high or hang on to them till I feel safe.

Never sell a gun. In Illinois they kept old junk guns around to give to the sheriff if he ever had to come collect their guns due to a red flag order.

Coupla things I consider ...A Ban...An Accident...Breakage....Survival to Use All.
Mini 14s...5 20s for each....15 .223s... 5 7.62x39. 20 total.
ARs...20 30s 20 20s
AKs ....5 30s for each....20 total

Handguns....WAY Too many

I honestly couldn't tell you how many I have but I figure it is enough to feed the ARs here. I have 20-30 that are still in the wrapper. And that many or more loaded I guess. I'm not in the market for any right now.

AR mags I have 40-50 for personal use.
I have a ton more put back for the next time. Demorat gets elected POTUS and the prices jump sky high.
Glock mags, 20 per gun.
10 cz scorpion, hope to increase that after ammo stock arrives.

Personally I feel like you can’t have too many.

Well let me look at the spread sheet... It says way more than I will ever need. :D

I knew that you were tall, but you must have huge hands.

I probably have about 50, but only really use maybe 10.
For pistol I have 5-25 for each

2 for each of my pistols that take mags, 2 30 round mags for the 300BO and 3 30 round mags for the 5.56. May pick up two more for the 5.56 if they can be found for a reasonable price otherwise as stated earlier in the thread I'll pick up ones strewn about. Problem with too many mags is you can only carry so many, fewer mags mean less spray and pray and more making each round count.

I'm struggling with this also...
I went through my gun log and was surprised at how many weapons I have that I don't desire or care about.

NSA: "Tally complete".

NSA Manager: "wouldn you be a dear and run these names and numbers over to Kamala? Thanks."

Just being a member of this forum covers that issue

I keep six 30 rnd PMAG's loaded to 28 rnds with each of my MSR's. Each MSR also has a 20rnd PMAG loaded to 18 rnds in the mag well. I got a box of 10 G2's and a box of 10 G3's stashed away for a rainy day. There are some floaters here and there as well. I'm set till somebody has a blowout sale again...some day.

Mags are still cheap, ammo isn’t. So I bought 7 more Pmags in the last few weeks. Buy low, buy low is my motto. I’ll just shoot more of my 22lr stash than usual u til ammo settles down or my supply comes to a point I only need 1 closet to store it in.

I sold a PSA AR10 I had $575 in for $800 a few weeks ago. Allowed me to buy other stuff I wanted more.
With the price of Mossberg shockwave’s going through the roof I’m almost tempted to sell one of those. PSA has them listed above $500 now!

I haven't bought any magazines in a long time. I have several AR mags loaded and several more still in the wrapper.
1911 mags? Quite a few. Glock magazines? I wouldn't even try to guesstimate. And, I have a lot of magazines for guns that I don't own....just in case.

“Hi-cap” magazines could be good trading material if liberal gun control continues to slither in ... EMPTY MAGS I do not trade ammo less I’m very comfortable with the person and have twice as much as I think I need. But mags ... back in mid 90’s with Clinton’s AWB Glock “Hi-cap” mags were going for $100 plus easy and all day ... they don’t go bad so why not stack a few back just in case ...

I have five for each pistol and rifle and a dozen Magpul G3 30rd in packages.

I probably have 20 AR mags
5 or 6 MP5 mags
three beretta 92
five glock 17
then just standard issue after that (ie: whatever it came with)

I'll get more if it's a good price, but I feel fine.
Im not going off to battle, Im not mistreating the ones I have

Agreed. At a certain point if you really think you need 100 mags then you are probably in the wrong place at the wrong time. If I end up in a true battle I’ll likely be dead before I use all my mags. Sadly I am not a highly trained badass that is going to single handedly fight SWAT or 500 Antifa members. But I do like buying when things are cheap. I’ve got a buddy that doesn’t have a big stash of AR mags. So if things go downhill I’d probably give him some of mine.

yeah, I know Im super sexy and look extremely fit and ready for battle... but Im not.
I just want to go to the range and have some fun.

I dont see buying cases of mags unless youre stocking up for this and hoping to retire

Aaaaahhhhh,

most of us will be dead before we use 1/3 of what we have.

You have plenty.

I agree with that.

A handful for classes, a few for matches, a few for "actual use", a few to sell when the next ban comes around.

The other side of the coin is, they'll never get cheaper. If in 20 years you're tired of looking at them and want to dump those $10-12 pmags for the inflation adjusted price of... $20, someone will want them. Costs you nothing to keep them other than the opportunity cost of the money and storage space.

The other reality people forget is that if you survive the first firefight you will have guns, ammo, mags a gear to pick up. Most likely someone is going hit the jackpot when they bust down my door. :D

I just dont' understand the question....

That's like saying, "How much money do you think is enough?"...... o_O

The question escapes me also........ Don't understand the concept.o_O:confused:

You might be a hoarder if you have mags for guns you don't own........
