Ive had this PMag (GL9) made for the Glock 19 for about six weeks. I’ve run it at the range, firing 300 rounds through it before I felt comfortable using it as my daily carry primary mag (one of a few)

I was doing my weekly “start of the week” maintenance for my pistol and my wife’s daily carry and when unloading my mags, one felt “off”. I took it apart and this is what was in there:

It’s not a clean break; it’s a really a jagged break that runs the length of the spring. Wonder if Magpul will say anything?

Wouldn't hurt to send them the picture and see what they say.

Man, that stinks. Good thing you check your equipment regularly. I'll stick to OEM mags for carry.

Love their AR mags, but in my experience their Glock mags are complete crap. I won’t even use them for competition anymore.

One more example of why you carry an extra mag due to possible failures instead of actually needing additional rounds.

I have two of the Magpul Glock mags, or at least I own them even if I don't use them. They're in the box with my Maxim 9 awaiting approval.

They are sending me an RMA to return the defective mag and spring and replace it afterwards

I really would like new springs for all of them but I’ll just be using them at the range now. Ordered replacement Glock OEM mags in the meantime

Can you use Wolff springs in these? In my experience they hold up as good as OEM.

Amen ! This ^^^ x 1000, finally !
Any weapon is a mechanical device, you're literally betting your own life or the lives of your loved ones that it will work when called upon. The point of an extra mag is to use it if anything goes wrong. I've never seen an IA drill which includes "strip magazine and hold onto it"; you need a handgun to defend against a close and immediate threat. If it goes down, you work the problem and reload quickly with your "happy mag". I've never understood anybody serious who carries an autoloader without an extra mag.

That being said and to get this back on track: I've had nothing but success with my magpul mags, but I stick with Glock mags for carry. Interesting to see this, thanks for the thread ! I'm anxious to hear if Magpul does right by you.

Just curious, @11B CIB , how many cycles of loading and firing/unloading do you guess the mag has gone through? I have several Magpul Glock mags and have never even had them apart. I'll need to look at mine.

I wonder if this turns out to be a systemic manufacturing defective in the way the springs were made if they will issue a recall of the magazines or offer free replacement springs?

Don’t know about that

They said they would send an RMA yesterday but nothing so far

I put probably 300-350 rounds through this one mag. I would load/unload my personal protection rounds in it prior to shooting at the range. I’d run drills with it, maybe putting 1-3 rounds at a time in it to practice reloads and transitions etc. I’m not a “load it to the gills and just shoot the 5 yard target” type shooter

Even though it was only 350 rounds or so, I did USE it...but I didn’t torture test it or anything. Mags should be able to handle what I was doing

A quick google search does not show me any broken springs. Plenty of FTF issues and some who wore out their springs, but nothing about breakage in my first two pages of results.

Wondering if you have heard anything back from Magpul on this?
I would think they would be very concerned about this Information and pictures finding its way onto some the more national forums.
This isn’t like one of the usual internet “facts” where somebody heard this from a friend who heard it from his third cousins girlfriend while they out drinking beer.
You have the spring. You know how and how much it was it was used.
I assuming you know when and where you purchased it.
Besides being concerned about a manufacturing issue I would also think they would be worried about
someone making “knock off” copies of their mags.

Circling back to see if you have heard anything from Magpul on this issue?
Thank you.

Sorry for the cliff hanger haha

Magpul didn’t seem to care much at all. They sent me a new magazine and asked that I send them the broken one in it’s entirety (they did provide a label) but that’s all. I expressed concern with trusting their other mags and going back to Glock mags and said: “As for the other mags I would not worry about the springs. Broken springs are extremely rare.”

I also had to call their CS line after the initial email I got from them, because the email exchange was.....slow. After the phone call, however, my emails were answered promptly
