Making a Lower From Soda Cans

The mold as you call it is destroyed on every pour. It is made of oil bonded sand mix. The wooden block that he removed from the sand mold
is the pattern that is reused over and over.
When I cast old engine parts, I will use my 1 original part or pattern, and make several sand molds called flasks, that way I can cast several at one setup.

I'm curious as to what you're casting.

I cast a few old license plate toppers and hot rod car club Plates. A few parts for my hit & miss engines. Just another hobby I dabble in.

What kind of hit and miss engines are you into? A friend of mine has one that stands somewhere around 5-6ft tall, biggest one I've ever seen. The flywheel is massive.

This video is a little long but I didn't notice. I was mesmerized by the process. I don't possess the tools or the skill set to pull this off but man was it cool to watch.

Just wow. Another area where I just don't know anything. I feel like my youth was totally wasted.
This was a great vid.

You won't ruin it,just dirty it up a little. I fill the holes and voids with wax or clay or even wooden dowel rods.

x2. You can fill/shape with stuff like wax that can easily be removed.

I'd like to try this using aluminum pistol casings just to make heads explode.

And here's the thread about the $2 $H!t shovel AK mentioned way back..
