Making a Sgian Dubh

Not sure but the entire blade is hard so drilling holes or file work is going to be difficult. All the sgian-dubh knives I have made have been hidden or threaded through tangs. It’s going to be a good looking little blade though. They are my favorite to make.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Didn't bore the pin holes first.

So I started grinding it down for a through tang.

I still intend to leave the back side flat and I saw a piece of antler around here the other day that would make a nice grip.
Now if I could only remember where it was.

Those are quite nice BTW.

I have done the same thing. Ruined quite a few drill bits doing it.
looking forward to seeing the build.

Can the tang not be annealed for drilling and then requenched?

I think next to Bowie’s these are one of my favorite knives. You did that one proud.
