A Johnston County man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly entering an elementary school while armed, wearing tactical gear and impersonating a law enforcement officer.

Nathan James Bailey, 34, of Raleigh, entered the campus of Dixon Road Elementary School at approximately 9:09 a.m. wearing a tactical raid vest that held a handgun and a badge that read “private investigator,” the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday.

Bailey, who has a child attending the school, was recognized as a parent by school staff as he passed through the school’s weapons detection system. He was ordered by staff to leave the building with his firearm.

Authorities didn’t disclose Bailey’s motive.

I am scratching my head and trying to figure out a motive there as well and coming up with nothing. Maybe wanted to impress a teacher, or his little girl's classmates?

What’s in the water down there…..
Little brat probably needed it taped shut.

Kinda pisses me off since the antis read that sort of headline and say "see thos gun nuts!"

No idea what this moron was thinking was going to happen?

Maybe I have a guess. It was a custody battle. School had been instructed not to release the girl to her father. So he shows up disguised as a cop, planning to say he needs to take her “to the proper authorities”. But a teacher recognizes him and foils his plan.

it’s a problem in all schools, kids are sent to school to get a education not “learning “…that has to come from the home, not school!!! If my kid has or needs a “attitude adjustment “ then the teacher should tell me….if I fail to correct the problem then the punishment should be on me, not my kid…. But as I read the article I see that the teacher has been doing this for a while and to other students, so either a bad teacher or students with no manners.

Not saying he didn’t need his mouth taped shut(your probably right as most kids I see now I just want to pinch off their heads) but if the parents do not discipline their children our society is doomed..I guess it already is…

Maaaaaaan, parents dont want to parent.
To play devil's advocate - so teacher calls Mr. Punisher and says, "Punisher Jr is being a jerk in class, just letting you know"
If Mr. Punisher doesnt correct the problem it's NOT on YOU, it's STILL on the teacher. Teacher still has a jerk Punisher Jr each day even MORE brazen cause dad didnt do crap.

I quit calling home. Bad behavior. Oh well. Failing? Oh well. Im not spending my time on it. I'll handle as I can and proceed from there.

Removing corporal punishment from schools was one of the worst things to happen to our society IMO.

Movies made it look like schools abused it and the teachers and admins were gleeful about it. None of that was true.

The only kids I saw paddled were the ones that were absolutely horrible.

I see your point, and having my only daughter that teaches 8th grade and a wife
that subs, most bad or problematic kids have either bad parents or sorry parents…I guess I come from the “foot in your a$$” generation and I passed my beliefs down to my daughter and did my job…

Honestly, I think the issue is a lot deeper than this. I was a class clown, very mischievous, but never with mal intent. I got my butt paddled AT LEAST once a week through all of middle school. It was a laughing experience. My high school still had a paddling policy, but it was way more rare. Lots of sign offs had to happen, but I still got it a few times. My principal's gay, limp-wristed, swats, were the butt of I and my friend's jokes for years. The fear was when they let my parents know. I feared my father beating the ever loving sh*t out of me. (That's for another discussion.) Today, letting the parents know means the parents get pissed because their little snow flake's feelings got hurt.

My wife and I volunteered quite a bit in our granddaughter's schools. The teachers always asked us to help with the problematic kids. And in every case, the problem was the kids' parents.

In the late 50s/60s I got a couple of paddling's.
Back then the snitches would call home and tell Mom.
When I got home, Mom would tighten me up.
Then when Dad got home from the jobsite, if he thought I needed a little more of a tune-up, we danced.
Only took about 3 times to make the connection between my ears fully functional.

The knockoff serpa holster goes well with the private investigator badge. But he gets some points back for carrying a 92FS. Am willing to ignore the open trigger guard…no way that’s the correct holster.

I got a paddlin' once in middle school - 8th grade.
Me and a kid got into a 'fight' (it wasnt, just pushing) and the gym teacher said - "Ok, we can call home or one lick with the paddle"
We both QUICKLY answered for door number 2 (uhhhh, hmmm, now I see a pun there)
Anyway, it wasnt terrible, over in a moment of looking for the red dot on the wall that wasnt there.

Today kids are brazen as hell. It's wild.
Ive been at this nearly a decade and there are some that push boundaries further each year.
And, yes, mostly it's bad parenting. It's kids with loser parents and, well, they're losers too. Sorry, but if youre a 4th semester freshman in high school and its not looking good for making it to tenth grade next year either- youre a loser.

But these loser kids usually have deadbeat parents living in section 8 (Im not getting exaggerated here, some have talked about where they live), working one crappy job to try to support 3 or 4 people and they got jack squat.
One of these was a kid who didnt even had a dang toothbrush and his shoes were falling apart.

Like the Offspring song off of Ixnay said - welfare parents have welfare kids.
These kids have loser parents that teach them it's ok to do nothing, the gov will take care of you, and they buy into it, just causing issues for everyone else along the way.

What a terrible crime. He obviously was going to commit a mass shooting then realized he was in a gun free zone and didn't want that stain on his record. *SARCASM*

ALLOW LAWFUL POSSESSORS TO CARRY ANYWHERE!!! REPEAL GUN-FREE ZONES!!!
Yeah I mean I'm all for appealing GFZ's but this guy is a bonafide idiot as much as anyone carrying those "conceal carry permit" badges.

I agree. The sash is the way to go. 😉
