Marines Quietly Lower Combat Training Requirements To Help Female Officers

The U.S. Marine Corps will no longer require prospective officers to pass a punishing combat endurance test to graduate from the service’s Infantry Officer Course.

Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller quietly made the shift to standards in November, altering the test from a pass/fail requirement to just one of many exercises measured as part of overall IOC evaluation, the Marine Corps Times first reported on Thursday.

The course is considered among the military’s toughest training programs, with about a quarter of all students failing to complete it, according to the Washington Post. Most of the 30-plus women who have attempted IOC dropped on the first day during the combat endurance test.
 
But, but, but what ever happened to Mad Dog Mattis making us all tough and manly again? You mean that was BS too? I guess even with all the Generals Trump has working for him, the leftist beat just keeps going on. Sweden here we come! We'll have unarmed Marines serving in active combat zones soon enough. Maybe just give them batons.
 
A lot of officers got where they are by being politically correct in the past and others know there will be times in the future when it will again be required for advancement.
 
So, I talked with a couple people about this. Given that they had been instructors, and students, at John Wayne University, what they say carries a little more weight with me. The test in question has subjective standards; instructors can pass or fail essentially whomever. If you are strong in 90%, the 10% may be enough to fail the test outright. Or you could be in the 50th percentile and pass the whole thing. Also, they say the test has almost 100% pass on re-test, for all takers. Almost to an instructor they favored either revamping it completely, or getting rid of it completely.

So...if I am to believe the government and the media, and women are every bit the physical and mental equal of a man on the battlefield, why have professional sports not integrated women into their teams? Why are there separate pro basketball teams for men and women...why can't they play on the same teams?

...and Olympic sports and NCAA sports. I mean, if you wanna be equal and all, you really do need to level the playing field (see what I did there??) across the board.
 
You can’t compete? Cry loud enough and long enough and you’ll get a trophy anyway.

There are a lot of people who get the job because of what they look like and not because of their qualifications.

And peer evals that rated women amongst the worst were thrown out as sexist I imagine.

That happened when I was in Drill school...a female candidate filed a complaint against a male candidate who gave her a low review saying it was based on gender discrimination. Not the fact that she couldn’t memorize or pitch a D&C module to save her life :rolleyes:
 
I'm trying to be more positive in life, especially in light of finding ourselves in the proverbial handbasket on final approach.....

........at least when things turn to a more dynamic phase of political means, the strongest military the world has ever seen will be less so.
 
This country's central government has turned everything else against us, why not the Misguided Children, too? If and when we have to defend ourselves against the Corps, Sheila's limited hand-grenade range may turn out to be a blessing.
 
Protect ourselves from the Corps? Nah.

In other news, the Marines have dropped the long walk (15 mile hike with 105 pounds of gear) from its IOC syllabus. Changing the status (from pass/fail to participated) of the CET I get, but making it physically easier because you drop the hike is BS.
