Well...I'm catching up on the Marvel shows on Netflix.

Several months ago, I started in on Jessica Jones. Interesting character development, interesting character. I can see this one going a ways.

Got started on Daredevil. A few episodes in, got really busy elsewhere and didn't get back to it. I left it after the episode where Frank Castle had Daredevil on the roof.

This last week, I finally got back to Netflix and decided I'd jump in with Iron Fist. I like the idea of Iron Fist. Given the comic book history with its linkage to Luke Cage (Power Man), it was inevitable this series would come along. Buuuut...I'm not very impressed with the way the character is being portrayed. Perhaps the second season will improve on this. Danny Rand, a man so highly trained in the martial arts and having achieved the Iron Fist...has anger management issues which come across as pretty frickin' immature. Honestly...it's more like he's some angsty teenager than a highly trained martial artist.

Luke Cage. D*MN, this one is going good! I'm on the 9th episode as I type. The actor is doing a bang-up job with the character. He's got a very powerful, reserved personality. A presence...a powerful, well developed and developing character.

I'm hoping to be able to get back to Daredevil this weekend and see where that one went.

And I understand Punisher has a series now, too. He looked damn good in Daredevil. And Defenders is coming soon, too, which ties these people together.

Over all, it's shaping up very well, in my opinion.

Oh...and am I the only one who sees Mariah Stokes (or Dillard, whichever it is) and thinks "Michelle Obama"?

You are like al kinds of out of sequence. You are referencing season 2 of daredevil and getting pieces of the others out of the timeline.

Your assessment of Iron Fist is spot on, for one who's supposed to have achieved such mastery of martial arts he's not very Zen. Every time someone tells him something bad he's like a little boy screaming "It's not twue".

I felt that the writers just got lazy with Luke Cage relying on race to sell the character rather than development.

Whichever season it was...it was months ago. Regardless, I like Daredevil, too.

I'm not sure that race is being relied upon with Luke to sell the character. It's really an inevitable thing that race would come up, given the setting. It IS Harlem, after all.

Oh...and Stryker's features remind me of a cross between Samuel L. Jackson and Flip Wilson.

Heh! OK, discontinuity moment here...

Luke Cage gets shot by alien super bullets in two locations and was dying. Then, after performing a special procedure to enable them to cut through his skin to remove the fragments...they remove the fragments from his shoulder and not his gut wound.

CURED!

Umm...and the gut wound?

Well you just saved me several hours of tv watching. It's alright couldn't get past the fifth episode anyhow.

I watched the first two episodes of Luke Cage and gave up. What a painfully bad show. Sounds like they botched Iron Fist as well.

And Jessica Jones first season was only watchable because of the villain, who is now dead. And Daredevil was only watchable because of Punisher.

Punisher is the only series I have hopes for out of the entire Marvel Netflix venture.

I hope Punisher catches the other characters jaywalking and ventilates them all with .30 cal holes.

Iron Fist - terrible, and canceled
Luke Cage - terrible, and canceled
Daredevil - meh, canceled

Jessica Jones - 3rd season is in production, but I'm sure it will be canceled afterward. The lead character sucks and the first season was carried by the now-deceased villain.

Defenders - given the fate of the individual shows and also how terrible Defenders was, I'm sure this show is as buried as the awful villain Black Sky.

Punisher - the only show worth saving, at least based on the first season. We'll have to see how the second season turns out, but given Disney's streaming ambitions, I'm guessing the Punisher gets axed as well.

Man... harsh! I do like the character development and the writing on all of these shows. The third Daredevil story was top notch and almost made you want to forgive him for not killing some folk. The second Luke Cage delved into the psyche of someone with power and how it can be a struggle not to abuse it. The same with the villain in The second Iron fist.

Just didn't like how Luke cage characters would say they didn't like certain words but then used them like there was a sale on.

Agree for the most part... I thought season 3 of Daredevil was better than the 2nd and I liked both seasons of Jessica Jones though...

Does he kill anyone in season 3? Or does he still keep knocking down bad guys only for them to get right back up?

Does the second season have a good villain? Or does the Jones character become a lot more interesting than she was in season 1?

He's never been a killer. That's common to many super hero/comic characters. I don't really mind that all though I prefer the Punisher's way of doing things...

There is no Purple Man(other than flashbacks and visions of a dead guy), but Killgrave (good as he was) wasn't as good as the comic version either. Her mom's arc was interesting in showing how incredibly broken her character is, the power origin story with the doctor, Trish/Patsy/Hellcat development might be good tv fodder... So no major villian as the season focus like season 1, but that's fine. The old metric of one season, one bad guy is played out anyway.
