Oh man. I worked at a crab house for a couple of summers as a server when I was younger. Every night we blew our tips on liquor at the restaurant’s bar and ate all the leftover crabs because they didn’t keep. That was a fun time.

I‘ve been out crabbing in the Settle area back when it was only 50% commie. That was good stuff fresh off the boat.

We let the kids paddle the canoe to the other side of the river and back. A 7 and 11 year old.
It was a Huck Finn moment for them.
Even dropped a paddle at one point and had to retrieve it.
Then I took it out and then the women folk went for a spin. They couldn’t find the little man either.
My buddy paid $50 for this canoe and we picked it up yesterday on Facebook marketplace.

Man I am going to have to disagree with you there. Blue Crabs right out of the Chesapeake is one of the things that make life worth living. I used to get them in VA and MD and to be honest the MD side were always better. In the fall we would drive to Popes Creek and do all you can eat for $30. These days I order them from Crisfield, MD delivered to the house. I overpay but it tastes like home!

I have pretty much given up ever going to my favorite pizza/wing and b’cue joint in NY ever again over principle so giving up a little crab is easy. Gotta draw lines somewhere.

Pretty sure @Chdamn got crabs and gave them to @Chdamn's Wife . Based on past posts that is surely how it went down. Poor lady.

We were in Delaware over July 4th. Brother decided to treat everyone to some crabs. Goes to a nearby joint run by some old black dudes and says “I need some crabs.” They say “how much dem crabs you woant?!” He says “hell I dunno…a couple bushels?” Old dude’s eyes get big…”dayum boy! How many peoples you got?!” “I don’t know…a dozen or so.”
$200-something later…
Out of scene is two or three more boxes. Plus some silver queen corn.
I was born in MD but I never got hooked on these crabs. Still not. They’re too damn much work for too damn little reward.

Having been distracted by ... toenail polish - yeah, that's it - thought I should post something about crabs:
When I see this picture, all I can think about are crabs.
Mounds and mounds of crabs. Huge mountains of crabs! Crabs in pairs...steaming, hot pairs, just slipping and sliding across my...ummm..."plate"!
Ah...I just can't wait to tell my wife how much I want some, how I've just got to feast upon two mounds specially presented for my consumption by her! It just sends chills down my spine knowing exactly what she's going to say!
