I have a Massey 1428 V 4x4 tractor
The stinking tie rod end style connection from steering ram to front axle sheared off at the stud that ties into the plate
However.....the other end is literally welded to the ram plate?!!?
WTF????
Why...would they weld a consumable part like a tie rod end????

Any options anyone has run across?
I'm thinking grind flat the weld area after cutting off old....and drill out for a double stud style tie rod end...if...if such an animal exists

The Vulcan problem 🤮🤬
Zoom in and be amazed!
Massey wants $832 for replacement.....steering is tight and fine so no need for that nonsense!

Now that I'm over being pissed....a possible solution is using a Heim joint ...just need to find acceptable size for pressure exerted against it
Existing stud size is 1/2 " at pivot that tapers down to a 3/8- 24 stud so can't be too hard to find a Heim in that size!

You could try calling worthington ag they may can source you a used one if intrested and save some money, they have several locations but one in goldsboro.

Other place you can check is greens salvage in fremont nc.

Both very good sources of parts.

Thanks for reference 🍻
I plan on taking it up to local NAPA here in Benson or Car Quest in Dunn....both have a vast supply of Ag parts and while searching last night on Glamazon, found quite a few nice tie rod ends for cars that could work....just need to drill thru plate which will be fun due to being hardened from welding .

Still say the engineNERDS really screwed the customer welding a limited service life part like that.

Thanks again for options👍🍻

Even if you don’t use them now both are very good reliable sources for other items and good to work with. They offer some new aftermarket options as well.
