The third WWII Hanks/Spielberg series is officially underway. The new AppleTV studio swiped the series from HBO. Idiots for letting such a successful series go. But this answers why it’s been so long to get it developed.

No premiere date, but the fact that Apple is footing the $250M bill likely means they’re serious about getting it out.

I need to pick up the book to read before it comes out.

The book is one of the best pieces of history I’ve ever read. I hope the series is as good as the Band of Brothers adaptation, but for obvious reasons it may be hard to do. I hope they give Chuck Yeager his due.
Andy Rooney was a journalist who went on one of the Mighty Eighth missions. Even though his mission was fairly routine, he was shaken for years afterward.

I've got the book at home sitting in my queue--it's quite intimidating in terms of volume. I hope the writer sets the hook early on and it doesn't drone on like the Liberation Trilogy. Fantastic and thorough history lesson(s), but you darn near need a thesaurus/dictionary to make it through each page!
