Today I went south of Ramseur to an alfalfa farm. Was supposed to meet the lady at 10am. No one there, but a lady was exercising a horse nearby. When she finally dismounted, I approached and found that she was who I was to meet. She got closer, and I saw her double rig for single actions.

"Are you a Cowboy Action Mounted Shooter?" I asked.
"I am, and I love it!" she answered.

She had two Vaquero 45s with Bisley hammers. They were so easy to cock it was ridiculous. Of course, the triggers were so light they might as well be activated by thought!

We had a nice conversation while I loaded 22 bales of alfalfa. It's winter food for the rabbit colony. She learned about our operation, and said she wished more churches would act like that!

Was she shooting balloons? I know when they shoot at balloons they are pretty much using blanks and that pops them. A friend of mine, his wife is an archer on horseback.

A friend tried to get me into it when we still had horses. She said the loads were grits over powder with melted wax holding g it all in the case.

that makes sense too. Not going to fly very far and will pop the balloon. Seen it once at a rodeo long ago. Looks pretty fun, but got to have the right horse for that and a good rider.

I had the right horse (spookless), I wouldn't be the rider to win anything.

my daughter has horses. I am not too much a fan of one. One time I seen it buck her off let’s just say my gun was in my hand. That horse was an ass, thank goodness they got rid of it.

Know some people in Trinity that shoot mounted action shooting. They travel all over the country doing it and love it.

My wife used to participate in it and enjoyed it.

If you want to see some outstanding shooting and horsewomanship, watch this video of Kenda Lenseigne.

Do the rabbits require salad dressing with their alfalfa?
Did she let you shoot one?

Neighbor back in Fairbanks did it, looked like good times. But I'd probably have to enjoy riding horses, and have my own, wife would not let me use hers, and if I had my own I'd have to participate in horse chores. No go.

awesome
i had a friend who ran a small equestrian center and she said if she needed to train a horse for sound, i'd be the one she called to do it. I'm not good on horses and i'm not good at shooting, but i'd greatly enjoy a chance to not be good at both at once.
