I received an email from Midway this evening that Gamo .22cal air rifles are on sale: $84.99 each. Not a bad price for an entry level air rifle with optics

    https://www.midwayusa.com/s?promotionid=1269415

I bought the Whisper Fusion Elite model with a tin of 500 pellets for $120.88 shipped

I've heard pluses and minuses about Gamo. How are these two models, in terms of noise and accuracy? The only other air rifle I have is a Daisy M853 from the CMP.

I unboxed mine last nite and mounted the scope. I'm typing up my 5* review right now!!!11!

Honestly I'm having some buyer's remorse over this impulse purchase. I can't shoot it in my back yard and I'll be grabbing a real gun for any range trip. I got the whisper fusion and some plinking pellets. If anyone in Charlotte missed this and wants to buy mine, PM me.

I have a Gamo Silent Cat that I got from this forum. It shoots great but, it is anything but silent.

    All helpful.

Is the noise primarily mechanical (spring boinging around inside), acoustic (whoosh of air), or about equal parts both?

Mine arrived last night too and I'm in the same dilemma: definitely can't shoot this in the backyard! Mine was loud'ish, not ridiculously loud. All I had for comparison was my CMP Daisy 853. Mine did seem to quiet down after I ran some patches through the bore though. I'm guessing that there was some preservative oil from the factory.

I'm hoping to get mine to the range this weekend and get the irons/optics dialed in

Mine is mostly spring noise, if just the barrel is sticking out a window the neighbors don't hear anything. This thing has kept my tomatoes safe for a number of years and not a peep from my liberal durham neighbors.

I ordered the hornet, it was the only one left in stock.
Figure my two kids can have some fun in the back yard with it

I’d love to compare one of these to a suppressed 22LR one day...

My Diana springer is kinda sorta loud shooting but unremarkable from a bystanders POV.

The pellet hitting the steel hanging target is far louder. Sometimes my neighbors ask if was shooting, but only out of interest.

Ordered a hornet for my mother. She has really old pellet rifle that she uses for the war on squirrels that eat her bird feed. She's a great shot btw.

    Thanks for posting this !

Got mine In the other day and ordered a 4 pack of gamo pellets. It shoots most of them good, most of the time. It’ll put 2-4 really close, then sling one 3” high, low or left?

Is this normal for a air rifle?

These are refurbs so I wouldn't based my opinion on new ones based on these.

I'm kinda new to air rifles as well but yes I think it is normal. I tried about 6 different pellets before I found a winner. Thankfully it likes cheapos.

You can find multi sample packs at pyramid or Amazon or eBay to make it easier.

I have a gamo big cat whisper which is their 1400fps version. It’s about the same level of loudness as some lower FPS ones. I shoot it and my ruger RPR with a spectre 2 can in my backyard and have done a shot to shot comparison. The 22 is definitely quieter.
