So I have been wanting to put a red dot on my pistol for a while so last week I finally pulled the trigger on a vortex viper and have been very excited to get it mounted and put some rounds downrange. Well it came in this morning and I got it mounted and took it to my local range. I got it close to zero'd (zeroing a pistol w/ red dot shooting offhand sucks) and started shooting some groups.

Getting used to finding the dot was a little weird but not terrible after getting used to it and should be easier when I get my rear sight back on. With the dot I was running up and down a duelling tree at 20 yds which I had trouble doing with irons on the same gun.

The issue is when I got home and started stripping the gun down for cleaning my heart dropped when I saw that the lens had a small spidering crack on one side next to the frame. The sight was brand new in the box this morning and is now cracked after 210 rounds, half of which were soft shooting 147 gr handloads and the other half factory 115 gr. Upset is an understatement since these dots seemed to have good reviews. I know they supposedly have a great warranty and customer service but at this point I'm wondering what to do. I'm obviously pleased with my shooting with it but is it really going to be this fragile? Should I shoot it as is until it affects function? Send it in for repair/replacement? I planned on shooting 3 gun with this setup and putting it through its paces but I'm kind of skeptical now.

I went with the leupold delta point pro since the price drop. About 2000 rounds and no issues. I've used the doctor and the mrds, and the leupold has been superior to both.

I have a vortex razor 1-6 and strike eagle 1-6 on rifles. I've found that happiness in sights usually is correlated to the bummer of paying for it.

Give Vortex a call, I have had to send 2 dots back to them for warranty work and they have always been no questions asked we will take care of it.

I know they will take care of it, I'm just trying to figure out if this is going to be recurring thing. I have a strike eagle and a sparc II and while they are still fairly new I haven't had any major issues out of them.

I've got 3 of the venoms and have not had but one problem out of them. I'm shooting one on a G41 MOS and have put hundreds of rounds down range without so much as a hiccup! The one problem that I did have, they emailed me a shipping label and as soon as they saw it was in the FEDEX system, they dropped me a new one! Customer service and support is A+++++

Video and see where the brass ejects....I think you all will be surprised
