I have an 18" SPR build with a 15" MLOK rail. I'd like to put an MLOK bipod on it.

Was looking at the Magpul. 110.00 bucks or so on Amazon.

But there is a Caldwell Accushot option that has better reviews for about 10-15 less.

Then there is a UTG (I know....) Option that you mount the legs individually to each side vs one unit on the bottom. It gets good reviews for about half the price of the other two.

Thoughts or experiences with any of the above?

Thanks,

RR

I'm in the market as well and leaning towards the UTG. I've had good experiences with their products. If I don't like it, I'll return it and go for the Caldwell or Magpul option. Good experience with both of those companies as well.

I like the idea of the UTG as it keeps the bottom clean for barricades, the rails in a deer blind, etc.

It seems I’m always detaching the bipod when I get into a blind.

That's kinda why none of my current rifles wear a bipod at all.... LOL. I'm kinda leaning that way myself.

Well I just ordered the short UTG version. Will report in once it's here and I get to test it out a bit.

Have not yet had the opportunity to shoot with it. My impression from mounting/handling it:

Pros:
  • I like the fact that it keeps the bottom clean. This is a nice feature.
  • Legs rotate into place easily and lock solidly.
  • options for forward or rearward deployment.
  • Reasonably light and compact. I went with the short version. It will limit me to 10-20 round mags only, from most positions, while using the bipod and that's OK for my purposes. If you need to use 30's when prone, get the longer one.
Cons:
  • Extending each leg feels a little gritty. Almost like that function needs to wear in a bit or possibly needs a bit of oil applied.
  • Nothing is spring loaded for quick deployment. If you're doing this on the clock or with bullets flying two ways you might want another option. For a hunting/range bipod, it works.

The Magpul is has no provision for quick disconnecting out of the box. I have two PIC model and I like them.

Got to shoot it a bit today. Didn't have a lot of time to spend at the range but was able to put a couple mags through that gun. Very satisfied with the purchase for my purposes. Nice solid bipod.

Had one of these delivered yesterday, got it mounted today. It's already packaged up and ready for return to Amazon.

At each of the extension positions, the rifle was canted by ~5*. Rough math would put the error at almost 1"/100yds for both windage and elevation.

I just mount standard M LOK bipod stud and throw on a good bipod. I'll grab a pic of one of mine if anyone is interested.

Stud is only like $10 new.

That's what I was trying to change FROM. The goal being a smooth, obstruction free, bottom rail for use on deer blinds, barricades, etc. when the bipod legs are folded away.

I have a short pic rail on my Centurion CMR and my ADM rails. It doesn’t get in the way for shooting off stand rails or barricades and I can bounce my Atlas (with ADM QD)around between all my rifles.

M-LOK is great, but too much of a hassle to put on and take off, so I wouldn’t want a dedicated M-LOK bipod.
