Can an A2 or other flash hider be drilled open to be used on a 9mm barrel without causing any problems? Both are threaded 1/2 X 28.

Is this to save $ or just to try it? I’d be worried that I didn’t get it straight and might have a bullet strike it. This is assuming you were using a drill press and not some type of lathe or mill.

I don't see why not, but that is not an expert opinion at all. How thick will the remaining wall be? I would start with the biggest outside dia that I could.

I have several A2 flash hiders laying around and I'd like to put a flash hider on my 9mm SUB2K. I'm not opposed to buying one, I just thought if it could be opened up I'd go that way.

I would use a drill press vise and drill press to make sure it’s straight.

I haven't done this...yet, but I would think that a 3/8" bit would follow the hole that is already there. .020 clearance should be plenty, shouldn't it? Or, does it need to be a "tight fit" to the bullet?

I mic’d my Scorpion’s ID and it was .4030” ... closest I’d say would be a 13/32” bit.

That should be enough clearance. I drilled my .22 baffles (form 1) .25 with no problems (and it's considerably longer than a brake/flash hider)
