Would’ve been fun if his clutch slave cylinder had failed about the time he hit the rev limiter......
One could only hope.

My bike (street) is all stock minus the luggage and I added a 12v port on her. THAT'S IT.
I dont rev and all that stupid crap, Im trying NOT to attract attention unless its moving and making sure that the car(s) near me know Im there...like making sure to get in their mirrors and such, not by noise.

I have a Stebel air horn for noise and about 25000 lumens of LED's up front and a Whelen LED light bar and 2 Hyperlite LED brake lights on the rear to be seen.

Same here. My VStrom had the aftermarket exhaust on it when I bought it, and it’s not excessively loud. I added the power commander to correct a lean condition.

I work with guys(and gals)that ride crotch rockets. Every time they stop or start they have to rev the throttle 4-5 times. I’ve never understood, and asking why causes drama I’d rather not deal with.

Once or twice long ago in the past, while sitting at a red light next to a throttle jockey I nodded to him and said "I think I can fix that". I got a confused look to which I replied, "You engine won't idle, I think I can fix it".

This aint about Motorcycle LOVE, but motorcycle HATE.

So a bit back, and I think I posted here about this, I saw a dude in Lexington with NO SHOES on while riding his Suzuki GSXR.
Again, NO SHOES. But I remember him/he stands out because of his helmet. It was a full faced helmet that looked like the black Iron Man character. Not Iron Man, but his buddy with a similar suit but silver and blue. Know what Im talking about?

Ok. So this morning I rode into WS on my 1125R, then I went south after leaving Home Depot to go to a coffee shop in Lexington (owned by a gun carrying dude who is super nice and does TONS of charity work...what a character!). Parked out front...as you do... and went in for a small coffee and apple fritter.
Go outside to enjoy, since its still early enough that the heat/humidity hasnt set in (oh, its coming now).

As Im enjoying my freshly ground and brewed coffee (they actually grind their own there) and pastry I hear a bike coming up the road, and I can tell it a 4 banger.
He comes into my view and I see his head dart to the right where my bike is parked, and as he's slowing for the redlight he pulls the clutch in and goes to the rev limiter for about 5 seconds.
What an asshole.

Then he makes a right and immediate right to come the wrong way into the square to get a better view of what Im riding. Now, I make NO MOVEMENT or real ACKNOWLEDGMENT of this tool as he does that, just keep enjoying my treats. But as he is slowed, almost to a stop, and about 10' from my bike he does the same - clutch in and rev like hell for about 10 seconds.

Then he pulls back out and continues on his way.
Today he had on shoes, but he also had on that stupid-ass helmet. And I see an ironman figurine on his bike fender/deflector.

If you are this tool - youre an asshole.
If you know this tool - your friend is an asshole.

Why cant people just RIDE. Why feel so compelled to make some much freaking noise and look like a tool so that the rest of society thinks, when they see us, 'here comes this asshole...'
Why try to 'show off' or whatever he's trying to do.

I swear, between the Harley guys revving like hell and the sportbike guys revving like hell it's really freaking annoying and embarrassing to be a biker.

I know this is a bike thread, and most in here are riders, but if you arent: this is the equivalent of the dumbasses who OC an AK to get their burrito or Oreos. Just idiots.

Where I work, it is across the street from the Harley place. Saturday’s are the absolute worse days for them to let it be known how their bike sounds.

But I had to drop a rev bomb on a bitch today as the came over in to my lane. I could have opened both front and back passenger door. Popped the clutch and let it rip. Scared the shit out of her. she proceeded to get back in the other lane till I passed by. She apologized, I gave her the thumbs up and went on.

Wife was pissed and ready to bust some heads. But at least the lady acknowledged her screw up

I might be mistaken, but most sport bikes have a cable clutch unless it’s some bikes like the ZX14 or busa . Maybe the German bikes have them but most jap bikes don’t. A lot of the older bikes I know don’t have them

Met a kid at a red light while riding the other day. He pulled up, I gave a nod, and he said “that’s a nice ass bike”. I said “thanks, I love your cbr. I used to have one.” He replied by bouncing off the rev limiter. Uhhh, ok? lol

Dont you speak squid?

I think my sportbike days are over. I look at clip-ons now and shudder.
Had the FZR for a long time, it's like they built it to fit me.
Lots of work done to this thing. It's sweet spot was 155mph.

Won several bike shows at Wings Over the Smokies with this old gal.

This one gets every cops head turned. Most cops are too young to remember when these bikes were common. It's also the best bike I've ever had for keeping the tailgaters away. It spits out a nice plume of blue smoke like God intended.
I gave this one to my Brother to take back to CA where he lives. He's coming to get it this summer and I gave him the Trail 70 too.
Two-strokes are considered a sin in CA.. haha die yuppie scum.

My ridin' buddy.
He's been riding with me since I got him at 5 weeks old. He's about 14 now and I don't take him on the bikes anymore, but he loves the atv.

This is probably the hardest bike I've ever had to sell. But I don't race anymore so I let it go last year.

Id LOVE to find a 250 like you are giving your brother
I check CL regularly, but the problem is people have lost titles etc and I just dont want to deal with it.

Cool bikes and dog!

But man, that KTM really gets me going!

confirmed.
Indian FTR1200 gong into production in 2019 as a 2020 new model.

What’s New: The FTR 1200 is an all-new model for Indian. It will be based on the FTR1200 Custom (pictured above), which was a concept bike unveiled at EICMA in November of 2017. The concept itself is inspired by the FTR750 race bike which has been dominating American Flat Trackfor the past two seasons. The difference is the FTR1200 Custom is a street bike powered by the 69 cubic-inch V-twin engine used in the current production Scout.

Looks like a Victory Octane replacement. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I thought for sure the Octane would be a home run for Victory, then they went & shut the doors.

I like the Scout Bobber a lot & am kind of afraid to test ride one, lest I like it too much.

You don't find them old Elsinores around much, especially in that condition. Even though they made thousands, everybody beat the hell out of them and over the years they just faded away.
I found that one in a old lady's basement. Her son put it there in 1975 when he went into the Air Force:
"Hold onto this for me Mom. I'll be back in a few years to get it."
He's still in the Air Force. Major. So I gave the lady $200 and brought it home. Still had the 1975 license plate on it, original tires, all 3 keys, tool kit, and the owners manual..and the original title from 1974. It was like stepping back in time.

@NKD...the KTM was just too much cool. It never spent a day in the garage, it stayed in the living room.

It is based on theIr Flat track racer FTR750. Higher seating than the octane.
I too like the Scout Bobber.

I actually like the Victory over the Indian. I think they should have kept Victory up and running.

Because of tennis/shooters elbow i havn't had the bike out in a good while.
But Sunday I said heck with this and we took it out and showed it some love.
Couldn't help but stop and take a pic of this when it happened.View attachment 62309

I've got 3 pics like that somewhere, 50, 70 & 100K. Right now I can only remember where I was when I took 2 of the pics.

I’m getting the itch for an adventure bike or dual sport.

V-strom or Versey for adventure. Would like a 1000 for my big behind. But the 650s would be in my price range.

Prefer the V-Strom since it sticks with the V-Twin for both 650 and 1000

Or a KLR 650

Maybe one day tackle the trans American trail

I owned a 2009 KLR 650 for 3 years, and they’re good bikes except for their weak engines. Rode it to West Virginia the first time I made the trip, and always wanted more power on the interstate. The passing power at higher speeds is just not there. Off road they work well at a slower pace.

My 1000 VStrom has 3 times the power of the KLR, and is an excellent road bike. My second West Virginia trip was on the Strom, and my backside thanked me when it was over. My Strom is capable of light off road use, but is much happier on the highway. It’s a trade off either way you go.

May have posted on this, don't remember and too lazy to look. Did a long tour in the Sierras on a borrowed KTM 990 Adventure. It really opened my eyes on the capabilities of a bike liter sized ADV bike. Man it hauled ass and was super fun. And, with modern dual sport rubber was able to keep up with sport bikes in the twisties.

Really sold me on them. With the high seating position they provide better visibility and are just great for street riding. They're pigs off road, of course, but better than a streetbike by quite a lot. Would love to have a 1000 Vstrom or something similar.

Romney Cycles, in Romney, WV has a rally every spring for adventure/dual sport bikes. First year I went on the KLR, and had a wonderful time. Suzuki had their demo bikes at the dealership, and I rode the 1000 VStrom- I was hooked! Sold the KLR and bought my 1000, and have been very happy. I love the upright seating position and ergonomics of the bike, and 6.3” of suspension gives a comfortable ride. 1000cc engine keeps a grin on my face!

Actually, the extra suspension travel is another thing I really like about ADV bikes! Makes a huge difference on potholes, curbs, etc.

I'm the same. If I'm in town and have the time I'm game for just about anywhere.

We had planned a coast to coast bun burner. Instead of the scheduled 5 days it turned into 21 days, 7400+ miles, a 3 day excursion to Vegas and in 24 hours it went from 117 in the desert to 28 degrees and snowing in the Rockies. Of course the topper was having to ride through hurricane Gustav on the way back which really kinda sucked...

I was at the MotoGP race in Indy when Gustav came through. Power was out all around Indianapolis. I stopped at a gas station to pee about 2 hours out of Indy. The lot was full of sport bikes. I asked a guy what was going on and he said nobody could pump gas because of power outages all around. He said that I had better stay there instead of running out of gas down the road. I told him that I wasn't worried about that because my Honda Super Tanker holds 7.7 gallons of gas!
The wind was a bit rough but nothing worse than I've seen in Montana and Kansas!

Doh !

No water in the radiator to heat up the thermostat! It took 2 hours to get it down off the mtn. 30min to get up there.... stopped at every water hole.

I can dig it... I got stuck down in a double black diamond trail in a canyon once... on a KLR .. in the snow.. uphill both ways !

I posted once before about motorcycle apps, and put in a video from a group called Fort Nine, a great little motorcycle channel I found on YT
Here is a newer video they've posted, where they (they are in Canada) ride 400km on a $400 motorcycle.
He uses an old TC90

Now, Im biased, I'll admit. My first 'big bike' was a TS100, very very similar to what he's riding. Big difference being an extra 10cc, and the TC models had the little cargo rack on the back.
Mine was a 74...one day I WILL have another for nostalgia's sake.

But this video is what, I think, many motorcyclists love about the hobby - exploring and adventure. Whether it's on the open roads or dirt trails, we like to be out there and see what's coming up next. Some are more prepared than others, but all encounter something they werent planning for and that is what makes motorcycle trips so danged great.

That’s a good video. I have a TS250 that was a barn find, and this makes me want to get it running again.

It’s a 1979 or 1980 model. It stopped firing several years ago, and I haven’t worked on it since. Need to get on it because they’re pretty rare around here.
If you get tired of it, let me know...

My son Jake & me at Fontana Lake earlier today. We did the Cherohala Skyway, Tail of the Dragon, & Moonshiner 28. Staying in Robbinsville tonight and running the whole thing in reverse tomorrow!
