Mt Mitchell to Winter Star and back

I did the Black MT Crest trail as an out an back from Mt Mitchell. Got to Deep Gap pitched my tent then went up Winter Star. Spent the night getting woken up by wind and rain, packed up in the dark around 5:45 and started the climb up Potato Hill in the dark. Didn't really get to see a sun rise and I moved fast to try and beat the rain but it started to pour just as I reached the parking lot.

Saturday was nice but the trail was still muddy and slick from the prior rain. Today was even more muddy from the rain Saturday night.

I also need a lighter tent. I'm thinking about the MSR Hubba Hubba.

I had an internship with TVA while I was at U of Tenn and I got paid to hike several trails regularly to check ozone sensors, clean out leaf little traps, etc.
Didn't get paid much, but I miss that job lol

I have the Hubba Hubba its great light weight BP tent. You two hiking/walking sticks to put it up though unless you use branches.
