A few years ago I decided that I wanted a gun made the year that I was born. I had looked and could find the year before or the year after or something that I didn't really want. I had bid on a few on Gun Broker only to get outbid by someone with much deeper pockets.

Recently, I found one that I liked and I was sure that I would get outbid on it. But, I went ahead and placed my maximum bid. Three days to go and I was the high bidder at about half of my maximum bid. Three or ten times a day I would look and no other bids had been placed. About an hour before the auction was to end, another bid was placed. I was still high bidder. Then another bidder. This made me start to question my bid. Did I need to increase it? Yes, No, Maybe. I decided to let it ride, I had been disappointed before, one more time wouldn't hurt me.

The auction ended at $5 less than my maximum! Here is my 1952 Smith & Wesson M&P .38 Special. In great condition and the grips number to the gun. It has held up better in it's 67 years than I have.

Bring it today and we can go ahead a cut off that hammer and trigger guard.
Ol Billy and his ways. :D
I can just see it one day. Billy at the pearly gates with St. Peter-
"Well yes everything seems to be in order William..wait..um, what's this fitz thing you were fond of?"
Oh that's where I took classic revolvers and cut stuff off of them. I cut em up good it was awesome.
"Um yes I see, thank you. Would you mind waiting in that line over there?"

How come your birth year gun isn’t a Glock?

If you ever get to Battery Oaks, keep a close eye on your guns. Billy ain't skeered to alter them.

I do want him to do the Bill Jordan treatment to the trigger guard on my old Model 36.

What, no one has mentioned the invention of gunpowder yet? :p

Congrats on the find!!

I had considered getting a birth year Harley. 1953 Panhead would have been my dream bike .But thanks to you I think I'll go with a gun. I'll save a ton of money and I'll probably get a lot more use out of it. Congratulations on your find.
