So I’ve posted some on here about my Ruger American Predator 308. Well it just keeps impressing me. I added a Cheek riser and ground out the fore end to truly free float the barrel. Adjusted the trigger down to 3 lbs. added a Vortex viper scope and a Silencerco Harvester. I also put a bigger bolt handle on it. I’m shooting 165 gr accubonds over 4064 powder. It’s definitely an MOA or better rifle if I do my part. The pic below is at 200 yds head shots. The one flyer was me I knew it when I pulled the trigger. If you measure the three first shots it’s 1.25”. The flyer puts it at just over 2”. This was 4 rapid fire shots. For the $$ this thing is pretty impressive to me. I know it’s not a big $ Precision rig but it works for me. Furtherest ive shot is 350 on steel. Need to stretch it out more. I’m not an long range shooter by any means so I feel really good about this.

The guys that owns / runs BangSteel in VA recommends the Ruger American for exactly the reasons you have stated. In meeting him, he is very particular about what he will and will not recommend. These are GREAT rifles at entry level prices. Savage are making nice budget rifles also.

The only thing I’m going to change now is when the magpul stock finally comes out I’ll get one.

I have one in 6.5 creed. I floated the barrel and put in a Timney trigger. This is by far my favorite rifle right now. 3/4" groups with Hornady ammo at 200 yards. The gun is definitely a shooter!!

The only negative I ever heard about the Ruger American rifles when I was selling them was that the stock felt a bit chintzy.

yeah the stock definitely leaves some to be desired and thats where they cut corners to get this gun into the budget it is.

Magpul needs to embrace the idea the Hunter series for the Savage Axis and Ruger offerings and maybe some other brands. Sales are $...
The ruger american hunter stock is already on their website but they haven't released it yet. I'm not sure of the hold up. I sent them an email a few weeks ago asking when it would be available for purchase and they said they didn't know. But yes sales are $$$
