Past few days my heater motor in my '99 Sable only worked on high speed, had a funky odor,
took a look and the connector was burnt up. Cut a connector with the resistor out of a 2002 Taurus at LKQ. $13
Will splice it in tomorrow.

LKQ is pretty awesome. DOHC Sable?
No, the Vulcan engine, the DOHC is a BEAST, coworker had one, that thing is in there tight.
I like the vulcan, easy to work on plenty of room.
That engine was on the ground at the yard one day and it was HUGE.

Did have a few rentals with the DOHC in them, that thing moved.

I've done this fix before on a Mazda truck. Bought the part on Amazon for $34

Oh yeah, I have always liked the DOHC's, and the 3.98 transaxle ratio helps big time. I haven't owned one, but have spent a fair amount of time driving some 4th generation DOHC cars and a second generation Vulcan... they run forever.

My brother has an '00 Taurus that we may or may not have put an 18" Magnaflow muffler on when the cheap-o replacement failed, and removed the air box snorkel...

The resistor coils are good, motor good, looks like poor electrical connection from oxidation cause some arcing,
The blower motor will run on high speed only with the block disconnected.
I can't complain '99 Sable with 234,500 miles on it, I have almost 300K on my '99 Taurus Wagon. I do all my own car repairs.

These are some Tough vehicles. In 2011 I bought RS an SHO. On the way to Wagram with 5 fatties in it coming home across the Gallivants Ferry Fill at 140+ was a thrill for all. The Taurus series was a good seller and a good vehicle for the general buyer. The SHO was an all wheel drive monster. As good as any European counterpart in it's price range.

When I had a 2.7L DOHC Contour in 99, there were people swapping the 3.0L heads from the Taurii into the contour to get 11.5:1 compression and bigger valves. The rest of the car wasn't up to 300whp

Oh yeah my resistor pack for HVAC burnt up 3 times while I had that POS [emoji38]

My experience has led me to not run hvac fans on high. High fan draws a lot of current and will overheat the CS connectors going to them. I have replaced several in various vehicles. Just my .02.

First my heater defaulted to defrost due to a leaking hose and reservoir tank. Fixed. Then the blower motor quit in the same year. No big deal for 19 years. I relocated the hose and plastic reservoir. Not taking that dash and cooling evaporator out for that little repair.

I will tell you how tough that Sable is, wife lost the belt pulley bearing, so no PS, AC, ALT and no water pump, she had her mom and our two girls
in the car in middle of August, 2009 98F by the Raleigh Farmers Market, she decided to get on I-40 so she could drive the car faster (speed limit) to
help cool the car off. She did not realize the engine is transverse and the water pump will not run w/o the serpentine belt.
Anyway, she drives it 17 miles before the battery got too low from running the AC clutch, cabin fan, dual radiator fans, ignition system and computer. She damaged both heads, two spark plugs blown out of the cylinder heads  and warped from heat damage.
Slapped a pair of used heads from LKQ out of a 2002 taurus with 70K on them, new belt and tensioner and Prestone. Good to go!
Unfortunately w/o proper cooling she cooked the transmission at 145K, slapped in a Ford remanufactured unit 3yr unlimited mileage warranty.

I love my wife, she says if I had a cell phone at the time she could have called me since I was not home at the time.o_O That is why she decided to drive home.
I told her all she had to do was turn around and park it at the Burger King that was at that gas station at the time this happened.;)

I got her a 2017 Edge in January with 45K on it from Hertz car sales, same place I got my sable and taurus from in 1999.
