Yay so you may or may not have read, I found my birth family on both sides this week. I am blessed pretty much all the way around. But turns out doubly, since my new family on my birth fathers side are into guns as well. Maybe this is where I get my interest.

Asked my new half-brother to join so please give him a warm welcome if he does. He's from GA and other brother is in Columbia, SC. Half sister on my moms side is awesome but suffers from a little Trump derangement syndrome so when I meet them tomorrow I will keep my mouth shut on politics and just nod.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Nod, or nod off? ;)

Congrats!

I am watching this thread, and your story, closely. I adopted my oldest son (now 12) at birth. He 'knows' his birth mom and has met a younger 1/2 brother. They've spent a little bit of time together but are not close. We have no idea who the birth father is, never met him.

I tuck stories like yours away just for background when my son inevitably seeks out more of his birth family.

I am not going to tell my family just yet. My father died Thanksgiving and my mom is still fragile. This would be too much for her I think.

Have you known all along that you were adopted? We decided from day 1 to not make it a secret and have always talked freely about it with him.

If you'd rather not discuss, no worries.

I was adopted at birth. I know who my birth mother is, but she does not want to speak to me. She told me who my biological father is, but he doesn’t want to speak to me. I have located a half sister, but she is not interested in meeting me.

I’m so glad for you that you’ve had this experience!

Awesome news and congratulations @Goofyfoot2001 ! Pretty amazing being able to put the "puzzle pieces" together so to speak and if one is inclined and able to do so.

I was also adopted, from San Diego Children's Home Society, when I was a little over 1 years old. No idea about any family history. My bio-mom is unknown minus some paperwork from the children's home which indicated she was also adopted and got laid by a mystery bartender in Hawaii when she ran away from home when she was 18. I am the true "mystery mutt" and damn proud of it. My only "blood" on this planet is my 8 year old son. I am so very blessed and thankful for that mystery bio-mom. What an amazing life I have had because of her.

Hope everything works out wonderfully for you and your new connections! Very cool....:)

EDIT to add: And folks/families like @Tim have a special place in my heart. It is simply an amazing thing to adopt a child and open your heart and home and family.
