A question from the “Damn Yankee” that some folks don’t like….

I just learned about a distillery and farm in Durham that makes Mystic Bourbon and am looking for recommendations.

BYW. I like a good smooth Bourbon, Scotch, of Irish Whisky.
Is Mystic any good or just another backyard offering.
?

I bought and tried "Heart of Mystic" and enjoyed it very much.

My favorite bottles are Old Forester 1920 and Belle Meade Reserve.

I hope this is some help.

I've Not tried it but my Daughter went to the farm and had some mixed drinks there. She said it was very good. BUT she doesn't drink it neat or with a couple cubes of ice.. Henderson ABC store had some a couple weeks ago but I didn't get it. Going to try it soon.

I liked the Heart of Mystic. Did not like the Mystic Bourbon Liqueur, odd spices. Normally you'll find me drinking bullet bourbon, makers, or powers irish.

I finally went to the distillery and got a private tour. Only had pint bottles of Mystic bourbon for sale that day so I brought one home 117 proof.
Kinda has a moonshine after taste . Expensive but I also got a bottle of 2A bourbon . Still have not opened the 2A yet.Saving it for a special day.

I saw 2A labeled bourbon at the NC Person County ABC store on 501 near the Durham county line.
Don’t remember if it was Mystic or something else.

HEY! GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE! I'M THE ONLY "DAMN YANKEE" AROUND HERE THAT MATTERS!

Unless, of course, you still like unsweetened tea. Then you're OK.

As for Mystic Bourbon...beats me. I'm more of a rum guy, myself. Dark rum, that is.

Well — using the most polite voice possible — #$& you and the horse you rode in on.
I don’t have a horse so stuff that in your pipe and — smoke it.

As for unsweetened tea — yes I still like it but I’m slowly getting acclimated and appreciate Miss Daisy’s sweet tea.
Or maybe I just like Miss Daisy. ;-)

We do their labels and use their facility to bottle 2a bourbon. His broken oak just won best 5 year bourbon in the world. It's good stuff. Pricey but good. I'll be there this week bottling after hours.
