NC couple needs prayers after tragic accident

Received news late yesterday that our good friends were involved in a tragic accident while driving in South West Florida.
They were near Ft. Myers when a large piece of metal either fell off or flew from a truck they were following. It blew thru the windshield striking our friend (the driver) in the face rendering him unconscious instantly. Although his wife desperately tried to pull his foot off the gas their vehicle struck another vehicle and ended up in a ditch. The wife suffered cuts & abrasions as did their dog & the driver will have to have maybe several reconstructive surgeries. Your prayers for a speedy recovery would be appreciated.

Wow he is really lucky to survive. I had a close friend who's mom and dad were going to town. They were passing guy hauling junk scrap and a car caliper fell off the load then bounced up and took her head off. Really a crazy situation.

Wow! Prayers for a complete recovery.

Had something like that almost happen to me when I was working. I had our big truck following me when we met a truck hauling a house trailer( or half of one) when a sheet of plywood came loose from it and was headed directly at my windsheild. Now where to go so I stood on the brakes and somehow the wind currents caught it and sent it up over my truck just before it hit the windshield. Narrowly missed the big truck as well.

Lost a friend/coworker the same way a few years ago, only a few miles from home, passing an oncoming truck headed to the local scrap place and a pulley fell off their trailer, bounced off the road behind it and the car following the trailer struck the pulley mid air, knocking it through my friends windshield and killing him pretty much instantly. It’s like something out of final destination…

Best friends wife had just dropped her nieces (they live in Indy, friends live just south of Charlotte, they had come down to spend a few weeks during the summer) off with her sister in Knoxville (halfway point) and was coming home when a piece of steel came off of a trailer in front of her interstate, went through the passenger side of the windshield and into the passenger seat, had it happened on the way, it would have stuck and killed her oldest niece.

Hope they recover well.

People dropping stuff off their vehicles makes my blood boil. Should be SEVERE punishment for it. As a motorcyclist I want to throw a grenade in their lap.

As a fellow biker I do know what you mean. In 2003 two of us were cruising behind a car on the interstate when the driver tossed a cigarette butt out his window. Guess where the damn thing went……it hit me in the throat and fell down the front of my button up work shirt!!! I damn near wrecked trying to get off the highway from 70 mph.
