I'm headed down to Florida in a couple of weeks to build a deck around my inlaws new pool, gotta bring my trailer to haul my tools down and get lumber once I'm down there.

Had a thought about bring my quad and started looking at parks etc. I found a state park with tons of trails and unimproved camping, looks good enough for an adventure. $15 for a Fla state 3day ohv pass, according to their web page the require proof of ownership to get the pass.
I search the web a bit and found nothing for NC from the state. Previous owner had no title or cert of manufacturer.

Yeah, I'll call around this week, starting with the Fla state end, but what say y'all? Any experience with any of this?

NC does not title, tag, or otherwise document ATV/UTV ownership...and thank goodness for that, as it is the only reason we don't pay personal property taxes on them.
I would call down there and see what "proof" they require of residents that live in states that do not title ATV/UTVs.

Ohio has a similar requirement, but they title ATV/UTVs (and pay PPT every year for them) and when we went up to ride Wayne National Forest we were able to purchase permits with no hassle since NC does not.

I have had a sheriff's deputy run the VIN just to verify they are not stolen but otherwise have never ran into "proof of ownership".

Nah, got a Polaris Sportsman 4x4. I gave up on the stupid starter clutch on the Kawasaki. It's been sitting next to the shed for a couple of years, presumably rotting, under a tarp.
