The annual North Carolina State muzzleloading Rifle Association shooting competition will be held in September at the range of the Lafayette Long Rifles near Fuquay Varina, North Carolina.

Come on out to witness some great shooting and try out a flintlock or percussion gun for yourself. Or dust off that old cap lock in your closet and come out to compete.

PM me if you have any questions.

If this is a day I can make it, I will.
How does the trying out one go ? Is there a vendor that does this?
Or one particular area guy let you try theirs out?

The NCSMLRA shoot is scheduled for September 22-24, Friday thru Sunday. 400 Flintlock Lane, Fuquay Varina, NC. It's at the end of the long, gravel road.

No vendor, just good people. Just let me know if anyone can make it out, and when. I can't be there the whole weekend, but I can plan to accommodate some guests. Also, there are many other club members who will be glad to teach one about the handling, loading and firing of a muzzleloader.

In fact, I will reach out to some of the club officers and see if we can have someone ready to accommodate a guest at any point during the 3 days. Any guests who would like to fire a black-powder firearm need just bring hearing and eye protection.

I may take that Friday off and spend much of the day out at the club.

It is being hosted at Lafayette Long Rifles.

I'm not familiar with the pistol course of fire, but for rifle there are five shots at 25 yards, five shots at 50 yards, and five shots at 100 yd. It may be the same for a smoothbore long gun.

It is a lot of fun. I have heard of guys showing up with a inexpensive CVA rifle and placing quite well. It's fun to watch some of the shooters perform well with original flintlock smoothbores.

Good times with good folk.

Went to the monthly shoot yesterday, getting ready to compete in the State shoot in September.

Break out your muzzleloader, get a bit of practicing in, and come compete! You may be surprised at how well you do.
