Not sure if this belongs here, or under the gunsmithing section, but I need a trijicon suppressor height front sight installed on a sig 320 M18 , talked to a few places that have said they can only do front sights on glocks and smith's, they don't have the tools to do it for sigs.
I made an appointment with a gunsmith that said they could do. Showed up and waited around for 30 minutes, called texted and knocked and no body was home. Looking to getting it done same day while I wait if possible, live near zebulon, any of our vendors around here able to do this sort of task?

Why not just set it up in a padded vice (I use micarta blocks) and use a brass or aluminum punch?

So I did think about that, but one of the gunsmith places I talked to mentioned something about having to file the slide to get the trijicon to fit n if that's true I'm probably not the best person to be taking a file to a gun

You don't file the slide, you file the sights.

I didnt think it sounded right either but I'm just relaying what he said to me. Maybe I'll give it a shot, I got some punches and a hammer 🤣

I installed the front on my m18 with a sight pusher tool. No filing was necessary.

I installed a set of sights on my m17 and just used a sight tool and didn’t have to file anything. I think they are just charging you for something they are not going to do.

Well the gunsmith I had the appointment with today, finally texted me back about 30 minutes ago, somehow when he added me to schedule he added me to last Monday, instead of today 🤦‍♂️

You don’t even need punches. I watched this CFF member drift his site at the range not too long ago using this method:

I just wrap the slide in old t shirts before locking them in a vice and drift with an aluminum punch. Have yet to have any serious difficulty.

I thought we agreed you wouldn’t share that! 🤬
Definitely wasn’t you…he didn’t have to take a dozen smoke breaks during the time we were there. 😝
