Well, Bought the DPM parts kit a while back. Sent out the lower to be converted to semi-auto. Got it back. Now, need to weld up the receiver. I took a semester of MIG welding, and have come to the conclusion, I SUCK at it. Now, it may be something that I could get better at over time, but I have no opportunity at work or at home to weld that much. And, I don't want to attempt to weld it only to have to cut it apart and try again and again. With my current "skill" level, I ain't nowhere comfortable putting my face near anything I weld. Now, the receiver is in 4 pieces. My question is, would it be legal for someone to weld the first 3 pieces together (would still NOT be a complete receiver). I should be able to weld the last part (the very back end) of the receiver on, it's a pretty straight forward weld. Thoughts.

I haven't done one yet, but from what I've seen worst part of this is getting the spacing correct, supposed to be able to use parts of the gun to help with setting most of it right. Seen several people use these, or mock up something similar themselves.

If it were me I would have it TIG welded, not MIG. Would also suggest setting it up in a fixture to keep it properly aligned. Whomever welds it will need to weld a little in one spot, then move to a different spot in order to minimize distortion.

Only problem is that I'm laid off until we open back up.
    I don't have a machine at home.

This project is on hold as of right now. Hard finding time. I do have one of those jigs, but not sure just how good they are. Read mixed revues online.
