I have a savage b22 in a Boyd's stock that i love but it keeps having extractor issues. So I'm looking at a new rifle.

I'm looking at the ruger precision 22lr or the savage TR. Both have good reviews. I had a TR a few years ago and regret selling it. My current main rifle is a ruger American in a oryx chassis so the ruger 22lr matchs it in that sense.

Which would you get?

I have a Savage FVSR in bedded in a Boyd's stock and it's a great little gun, easily the best suppressor host I've shot. That said, if I was willing to spend a couple hundred more, rather than going for the best value and enjoying the build, I would've bought the 455 Tactical.

The 455 has been replaced by the 457.

My cz doesn’t have extractor issues. Seriously cz rimfires are awesome. They make great trainers. There is a reason most kids in the rimfire leagues have cz’s.

@Bunsen

I'll throw in another vote for A CZ455/7. I've done a lot of research on this and the Ruger is really hit or miss on quality control. Some folks get a really good one and they're amazing shooters. But just as many people seem to get one that can't hit the broad side of a barn and have mechanical issues.

I literally just read the following on another forum this morning, and it applies so perfectly I'm just copying and pasting it over here

"They [Ruger] build rifles for the masses, not the small percentage of rimfire shooters who read these threads and try to wring the most from a rifle. Ruger is a huge name in the industry, that alone will encourage sales.

The average Joe (who already has a 10/22) is going to buy one, stick on a $100 optic and shoot bulk ammo. And be very happy with it. That is a good thing for all of us."

I attend at least one match a month and I'd say the only 5% of people shoot a Ruger. Almost everyone is shooting a CZ, Tikka, or Vudoo.

This picture is just one from a recent match. I just happened to put my gun down on a crowded table and notice that there were two CZ455s, one CZ457, and one Vudoo in an MDT chassis. Seems to be a common theme.

I always found that in match shooting, given enough time, the cream always rises to the top. Those are popular for a reason.

I shoot with a guy that has a CZ and I have a Ruger American. He outshoots me every time and when I shoot with his CZ my shots are consistently better. Vote for the CZ

What makes the CZ so much better? Looks like a 20moa rail is $100 for it.
FWIW...I used offset rings when I put a scope on my CZ.

This is probably a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway.
What kind of training?
Train to shoot?
Train to compete?
Train to hunt?

Hmmmmmm. I guess I will look into the cz 457. I'm going to send my savage B22 back to savage to have them look at it. If they can fix it i will just use it as a squirrel gun.

Any recommendations for a 20 moa scope rail? Thansk

Well guys I ended up with a ruger precision rimfire 22lr in FDE.... I just loved the way it felt and the trigger was very nice. I did mess with a cz. It was a very nice rifle but just not my flavor.

It will get a athlon argos 6x24x50 mil/mil scope. Waiting on a single peice mount because the rings I was using on the B22 are not high enough.

I should be able to get it out to test it on Monday. Thanks again guys for all the input:)
