After much deliberation, I decided it was time to get my kids their own .22 rifle. In the past they have shot my Henry Small Game Carbine and my CZ455 competition gun, but both of them are adult size and really too heavy for them to do anything other than bench rest shooting off of bags. And I'd really love for them to learn the basics of marksmanship in a way that's most conducive to them learning good habits. So yesterday I picked up a new CZ457 Scout.

After I shot a few rounds through to make sure the sights were on, it was their turn.

We put about 200 yards down range and they had a ball ringing steel, shooting spent shotgun shells, random garbage and old boxes. My oldest son even managed to hit a spent .22LR case while standing at about 5 yards. I was pretty impressed!

Needless to say I'm very happy with the purchase and know they'll get a lot of enjoyment out of this gun over the years.

Cool picture. Great looking rifle. Is that young man shooting right handed left eyed??

Yes. Unfortunately he seems be just like me, right handed but left eye dominate. I just leave it alone for now, although I know it's not the best. My other son is left handed and seems to shoot about equally well regardless of which way he holds the gun.

I too am !!!!! I shoot handguns right handed and long guns left handed. Let him try lefty, he'll first notice a better surprise trigger break.

And down the road you can swap out the stock for an adult LOP version and not miss a beat.

ALSO ITS THREADED SO SUPPRESSOR READY!

Yep, an easy swap.

I have 3 452 Scouts, a 455 and now a 457, only one of the 452's is in its original stock ( got to have one for the Wife), all others are in full size stocks. Just have to love these little rifles.
