When I bought my new Python I failed to see a defect on the grip around the medallion. I called CS at Colt and they said no problem we will send you a new set. In about two weeks I received the new set and these had a defect also but on the same side. So I gave up and ordered a new set of checkered American Walnut stocks with Colt medallion. These look nice and no defects I can find. Wish they were a tad darker, but just happy to have a set without issues. These were ordered directly from Altamont. How do you like them?

Very nice! Altamont does good work. I've owned a bunch of their grips (well maybe 6-8 sets) over the years.

Could you use the unblemished left side of one and the unblemished right side and make a matching unblemished set?

The second defect was on the same side as the original. I corrected my post above.

So, I was looking around for a darker grip and over on the C forum I found this company. Deer Hollow makes reproduction Colt grips. They do excellent work. The darker color looks much better IMO. Fit is good ( the trigger guard fit is explained on their website) checkering is nice and sharp. Nice grain. Medallions fit perfectly. I am absolutely happy with these.
