Got a new toy to play with. I traded my Matthew's Chill X for an Elite Energy 35. Got new mods on it. Now I need to get some arrows before I get serious about tuning. But got these results today. Nice start.

First 2 shots from 5 yards. That's a fletched and a bare shaft.

Nice shot of the rig.

Now I need some arrows to start really tuning it. I've run low and just using the few left from my last set.

5 yards??? 5 yards??? hell I can spit 5 yards, my vision doesn't get clear until 10 yards and if I've been drinking beer I can piss 3.5 of those 5 yards.... Get back to us....

Listen here old timer, it was the FIRST 2 SHOTS. Wanted to say that loud enough for you.

I always start bare shaft at 5 yards. The arrow without fletchings is going to go wherever it wants too. And if it's not tuned, that could be a pretty wild shot at 20 yards. I got it out to 15 yards and had to adjust the rest slightly to keep them together. Got a dozen GT Hunter XT's on order so I'm not going to waste any more time tuning until they get here. I'll just shoot the 3 arrows I have until the new ones get here.

Did you see the thread where I cut a blade of grass off from 38 yards? :D

I probably need to get another compound. I went on this kick where I was shooting a longbow and was going to hunt with it. I've never killed a deer with a bow and I wanted my first to be traditional. However that was a few years ago, and I've lost interest in practicing enough to be confident hunting with a traditional bow. I think going back to a compound will be my best bet, because it will re-spark my interest and I won't have to practice every single day for a year to be confident in shooting at a deer.

First advice is go shoot several bows, just like guns. Second advice is try to find an Elite to shoot. Their CS is a bit lacking sometimes but they make a great bow and they just shoot well. We have 4 of them in the house. And nothing wrong with a well taken care of used bow. I have a Matthew's that about 15 years old that I hunted with last season.

@Bailey Boat this better? Got the peep sight installed and this was my last 4 shot group from 25 yards. This bow is a shooter. Just wish it was 65 lb limbs instead of 70 lb. Gonna have to shoot it more.

That's a little better, now get a piece of cardboard about 2 x 2 and put about 9 dots on it (no larger than 1") arranged in rows, and shoot one arrow at each dot and show me the pic.

Those dots are about 2", and all 4 are touching or in it. I'm not going to get into anything too crazy till the new sticks get here. I bought bare shafts so I'm going to knock tune them to try and get the spines aligned right. Then fletch them.

When I started with the hinge release I took a 1" dot on an index card and shot it 25 times from 5 yards. The idea is to put 25 arrows in the same hole to work on the release form. Always ended up with a couple of fliers but put most of them in one ragged hole on that index card.

I'm trying to turn you into a dot shooter so I'll have someone to shoot with.... selfish me...

I'll shoot anything. I just really enjoy 3D and hunting. But all my practice at home is on those dots or a 40 cm face target. Heck, what's the distance you shoot at? Maybe we could all come down and keep you company for a bit. Everybody in the house shoots. Just depends on how far they have to shoot.
