So I'm going to start assembling parts for a new AR15 pistol build. I have an Aero Betsy Ross lower and a 12.5" Carbine gas system Ballistic advantage barrel. I am wanting to use the SBA3 brace and a Dead Air flash hider. So whats the best adjustable gas block? Is there a rail I can tuck part of a Sandman k in? Its 1.5" in dis. Trigger will be a ALG ACT.

Using the KeyMo system, do you ever plan on shooting it un-surpressed? I think I am going to do a 300 Blackout build and run my Chimera on it when it gets out of jail using the keymo system. I doubt I'd ever shoot it un-surpressed, but I am considering doing an SLR rail that allows the can to sit under the rail a good bit. Then buying a second SLR rail short enough to expose the end of the barrel if I did want to shoot without the can. Then I can just remove two screws and swap SLR rails since they use the same barrel nut attachment.

I’m sure I will shoot unsuppresed some. I want just the part of the can that is “behind” the muzzle tucked. I definitely don’t want to blow the end of my rail up lol.

Ok not sure you can accomplish what you're after, unless you are basically saying the back end of the can will be close to flush with the rail end.

You can use my methodology with any rail brand that offers multiple lengths. BCM, Aero, etc.

Yeah may just have to run a 10” rail 12 may be too long if the id isn’t big enough. Thanks for the advice!

SLR Sentry 7s on four of mine. Very pleased.

YHM has several rails with a 1.75" ID which can handle 1.5" cans.

@JRHorne @BigWaylon Do y'all think a 12" rail would be too long on a 12.5" bbl? I like the Aero Atlas one rails just don't want to have the suppressor not seat far enough bc the rail is too long.

The atlas 1 flares at the end. I've got 2. Let me measure their actual length vs reported, but a 12" on 12.5" should be ok with the FH if both are actual measurements from the manufacturer.

They call this a 7.5" barrel with a 7" rail. See the rail is slightly longer, actually around 7 1/4. I don't have a KeyMo FH yet to compare where the tines open vs threading. I bought this Aero upper complete from Aero Precision, so they must believe it clears enough to use the combo.

I think you already have the answer...

But all I'd be able to say is "it depends", because of how inconsistent a lot of advertised lengths are.

Thanks for the pics man. It might be close. I guess I could always get someone to shave the end off a bit if its a shade too long lol

I'd be worried about it fitting. HOWEVER, I'd bet aero has a good return policy. Go ahead and seat the barrel in the upper and thread on a standard A2 flash hider and measure.

That pic you posted looks like and FDE SLR rail.

Looking at the FH on Dead Air's sight, you're going to want to have a little more sticking out than how mine is I believe. I can measure the ID of the Atlas when I get home, but the Aero sight notes it as 1.3" inner diameter. I looked in mine and even where they reduce the diameter before the end, they have a channel cut in the for the gas block and tube. It might be close if the Sandman is 1.5". But I do agree, being able to run the FH or brake right at the edge of the rail plus the sandman essentially lining up would be SICK looking.

Yeah I don’t think it’ll fit in the end but would look bitching if it all lines up right. Thanks for all the info

I have an BA 12.5" barrel, and a 12" Aero Atlas handguard.

Although, barrel is out of gun and handguard is on another, I can put barrel into stripped upper, and photo is next to gun with handguard which will give you an idea of how much it sticks out. I think you will be alright.

The reason I like 12.5" barrels is that generally it allows for a 12" handguard and a muzzle device.

That’d be awesome [emoji122]

A couple more I found...

It's capable of being shot without a can, but I do have a blast shield I can use if I choose. Pics give you an idea of how much "tuck" there is.

Yeah it is. I like that style. Just don’t want the sandman k to be in contact with the rail and I want to be able to shoot unsuppressed if I please. Thanks for the pics! I think the 12” aero rail will work but it’ll be close.
The way I ended up with that setup was to send the upper to ADCO and had them cut (& thread) the barrel so that the FH ports were just past the edge. I didn't give them a barrel length to end up with, but it's right about 12" for that one.

Closer than I thought. Looks like 12” rail is like 12.625.

12.5” Aero/ BA barrel on bottom.
15.5” Faxon on Rifle.

Sorry about the hideous carpet and bad lighting lol.

Edit: the ID is 1 5/16” clear.

Now thats got me worried the ID is too small to tuck and the length is going to make it super close. I wonder how much it'd cost to have someone shave the rail a bit on the end. I guess I'll look at the SLR rails not and see what they measure

Yea by the time you pay someone to cut the rail, and it can't be done well the way I see it, you're better off going SLR. I was going to say look at the Ion Hybrid, but it doesn't have the ID for the can. Just get one that comes REALLY close to the length you need at the top.

You have the barrel and upper receiver already, right? If so, slap a barrel nut on it, tighten it hand tight, and measure at the top from start of the pic rail to the end of the threads. Then buy slightly less than that length SLR in whatever flavor you want.

Ordered everything today with the exception of the rail, gas block and optic. I think I'm going to order the 11.7" SLR helix MLOK rail and then move an MRO over to this gun and order an 1-6 optic for my BCM 16" Mid length . As for a gas block I'm undecided the superlative arms is OOS everywhere I look. So my parts list is as follows:

Aero betsy ross lower
SBA3 brace build kit for PSA
BCM Mod1 grip
BCM trigger guard
BCM mod 4 CH
ALG ACT trigger
Ballistic Advantage 12.5" carbine barrel
DeadAir Sandman flash hider
Aero upper
Arisaka defense hand stop
Arisaka defense MLOK light mount
Magpul Mbus
Streamlight HLX light with cloud defensive tape switch mount

You might take a look at ALG handguards. They are affordable but really nice, and true to size. Here's a 12" (you can get several styles) with the BA 12.5" carbine barrel. It protruded perfectly for the brake and I think a can would clear if it set beyond threads.

FWIW: the BA 12.5" I have is super accurate. Don't know if I got lucky, but it is more accurate than many longer and more expensive barrels I have used. Maybe because it is very rigid. Not sure why, but it shoots regular 55grain very well.
